I've been noticing the new ships (since DR or so) have gotten T6 and/or fleet counterparts now. But personally I think the Emissary-class Star Cruiser hasn't gotten the attention it should, other that a T5 Fleet verison. Any thoughts?
The star cruiser kinda got superseded by the Odyssey, specifically it's sci variants which can do the same things but better.
I don't think we'll ever see a T6 version of that one which is too bad because I really like the Nomad and Emissary.
There is also the Assault Cruiser, Patrol Escort, Deep Space Science Vessel, and Reconnaissance Science Vessel that don't have Tier 6 counterparts out of the original Tier 5 ships. So the Prometheus gets the Tier 6 treatment, but not the Enterprise-E? The Patrol Escort and Deep Space Science Vessel are Cryptic creations while the Reconnaissance Science Vessel is the USS Titan from the novels.
The Star Cruiser is one of the Tier 5 ships that also didn't get a C-Store Refit, and it's name has been stolen by the Odysee, too. So I really don't know if Crpytic still has ambitions to do something with it. Persnoally, I'd love to.

The Star Cruiser is in an odd place with a few other classes like the T5 Ambassador. They're attractive ships that some people would like, but a T6 variant doesn't really fit because they would end up being lesser versions of other ships that are already out.
I don't support the idea of a full T6 Star Cruiser because frankly, I just don't think we need yet another Engineering heavy, tactically castrated T6 cruiser. What seems a better idea, at least to me, is making the skin of the Star Cruiser available for another ship. Just like I would prefer to see the Ambassador as a 'bonus skin' for the Guardian, I wouldn't mind seeing the Star Cruiser skin being an alternate option for another ship like the Geneva, Concorde, or something else that's already out.
I know it won't happen, just something I would like to see.
I still struggle with the Star Cruiser's position in the supposed "game world logic" we face. Cryptic overdid it with their big supercruisers and half of the ship "classes" STO has are completely obsolete if we'd apply some real sense. For the sake of gameplay though that's irrelevant and the Star Cruiser is a nice looking ship, T6 and Type-6 material refit/upgrade should happen at this point. I could also imagine some unique traits it could have, like short range broadside emitters. It doesn't change that all crusiers at T6 somehow play the same because they all come with Cmd Eng and LTC Tac and Sci these days, so not much room for a unique feel here.

There is a T6 Star Cruiser....in fact, there are 3 of them. Just head over to Google and type "STO Flagship Star Cruisers" and check them out.
Often repeated, still nonsensical point. They are a different ship, this is about a T6 version of the Star Cruiser. But I admit this might only important for people who think looks are as important or even more so than stats. If you simply use ships for the gameplay and math behind them your suggestion would be valid.

The point is that the name is now given to the Oddys. They aren't going to make another ship using the models of the lower level Star Cruisers and call it a Star Cruiser. Could the Vanguard class, etc. show up on T6 ships? Sure, but they won't be called Star Cruisers.
Honestly adding the skins of the Emissary, Nomad, etc. class star cruiser to another ship is fine for me...It looks so great and it would be a shame for an entire ship model to be only used when your leveling up, and forgotten completely afterwards.

Change the name of a rose, does it change its smell?
The ship class is still called Star Cruiser, though, so if we want to talk about it, we have not much choice for other names. And naming the 4 variants every time is a bit of a mouthful.

Talk about it all you like. I was only pointing out that the models you are talking about are end of life as they were replaced by the Oddys. I really like the Nomad class so were there a T6 version, I would jump at the chance, but I own both 3 packs of Oddys because those are the upgrades to the T5 lvl40 Star Cruisers.
It's not that they changed the name of the rose...they changed the whole flower, but are still calling it a rose.
The Odyssey Class Star Cruiser (and that's its full name) is not the same ship, nor a successor to the normal Star Cruiser. They're entirely different variants and models and the Oddy's don't have access to the Star Cruiser's parts.
That alone proves that they're not the same ships since all other T6 ships have access to their T5 counterpart models.

They just happen to share the same name.
Odyssey and Nomad and Vanguard are classes of ships that fall into the Star Cruiser type.
The Odyssey is currently in operation as the new and main Star Cruiser type for Starfleet; having replaced the older classes of Vanguard and Nomad in the Star Cruiser line.
Ticonderoga and Virginia and California are classes of ships that fall into the Cruiser type.
The Bunker Hill, of the Ticonderoga class is currently in operation as a Cruiser for the US Navy; having replaced the older classes of Virginia and California in the Cruiser line.
Now, it could have been possible to do a T5 lvl40 Star Cruiser refit of the Vanguard/Nomad classes, but following the already established example of the Assault Cruiser and Assault Cruiser Refit, the Star Cruiser Refit would be a T5/T5u ship, which is currently where the Odyssey Class of Start Cruiser sits.
I think the best chance we have of seeing the Nomad and Vanguard classes of Star Cruisers at T6 is for a Star Cruiser Retrofit, but again, that is essentially what a Flagship Star Cruiser is, but with a different skin...so I don't see it being very likely to happen.

Personally, the Star Cruiser design would be a nice base for a more combat-oriented cruiser; as it is really similar to the Achilles-class from the videogame Dominion Wars. Quantum torpedo broadsides would be so much fun.
It even looks like a testbed for the Oddy. I think. in the STO canon, that the Star Cruiser has gone and beta-maxed. It was viable during it's day, but another avenue of design and tech superseded it. Which would make the T-6 flagships blu-ray, I guess.
That said, I wouldn't be against a T-6 version. I do find it unlikely, though. There's less of a market for it, at present, than other canon designs, like the Nebula or Nova or whatever, that would seem more likely (and profitable) to get the T-6 treatment first. But I am willing to stand corrected.
I don't know, the Star Cruiser seems pretty popular. I encounter that one as often when there is a level 40-something player on the team in Fleet Alert as I see, say, the Patrol Escort or Sovereign.
The in-game description indicates it's still one of the most modern ships in the fleet so I don't think it's outdated from a game-lore perspective.
I would not mind seeing them create a tier six variant or a retrofit model of the old star cruisers, though to me maybe seeing the model of the old star cruisers folded into a new style of cruiser might be more doable. Though I would also not mind seeing them create a patrol escort, and an advanced research science ship either.
Though i do wonder if the idea of creating skin options that you can buy thru the c-store, that allow you to apply some of the older ship model styles, might be more possible an option to do. Like being able to apply the look/parts of the star cruiser to the oddy, or the heavy cruiser parts to the Advanced heavy cruiser, but if that was done it would need to be done in a way that you might have to select which model parts you would be using on that ship. Like if you bought the star cruiser's part pack when you went to use your oddy in the ship tailor, than it would allow you to choose between using the oddy model's parts or the older star cruiser's model's parts. This might also be better being done in a pack of several ship part unlocks, so that it might be more appealing to as many players as possible so as to recoup the cost to implement it as fast as possible.
