Took a few months break. Skills are all reset now. Need advice.

So uh, I took a break several months back (maybe more like 4 or 5). I just logged back in and all my skills are reset. It's kinda overwhelming just coming back to the game after months of not playing and being presented with having to do something that important. I... need advice.

I have a level 52 Orion Engineer KDF using a Kurak Battlecruiser [T6] and it has 4x Dual Tetryon Beam Banks, a Transphasic Torpedo launcher, 3x Tetryon turrets, 4x Tetryon pulse generators (tactical consoles), and for engineering consoles I've got... 3x EPS flow regulators, Conductive RCS Accelerator, and Ablative Hazard Shielding. That one's from the uh, T6 Cross-Faction Bundle that I have. The other stuff is all Very Rare or Ultra Rare. I know that tetryon weapons weren't even popular back when I played, back then it was Antiproton stuff with CritD x3 or some such, I think. Still, I've always liked tetryon stuff and I could afford them, so whatever lol.

I also have a level 43 Romulan Science KDF, and a level 33 Vulcan Tactical FED. Their ships don't really matter. Loadouts are largely hand-me-downs from my Orion.

And uh, well, these skills don't look like anything remotely similar to what I remember. I don't know what to put points into and I have no idea what specializations are. Any advice would be helpful.

    You'll get better advice than this but I'll add my 2 credits...

    I wouldn't worry too much, I was in the same situation a few days ago, put the points in for a TAC Rom and I'm so much stronger and tougher (compared to the old skill tree) against the default difficulty and battlezones etc that I've had to start removing things to get any type of challenge from fighting space battles.

    With my skills as above, mainly blue MKXII's I've got enough damage and toughness (in an escort) that no enemy ship is worrisome. The new skill tree has made characters a lot stronger with minimal effort.

    All the above is only on normal difficulty so if you normally play on higher I can't comment on that.

    you don't need to spend everything now. also the most generally useful stuff is towards the top, and is quickest to get.
