Subtypes of weapon types like:

Included in main type of weapon, tho if you like them left comment! :)

This post doesn't reflect the main opinion, as not all players using forum :)
Info about weapons: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Ship_weapon

Favourite weapon type left in comment, for me its detabilizing tetryon and then standard antiproton :)

From the list of available choices, I have a least 1 captain that uses the different types of energy weapons or kinetic damage. The exception is proton energy weapons.

Tetryon for me. Been that way since I first joined in late 2013.

There is no "best weapon type" - as every weapon at identical mark/rarity/mod collection does exactly the same amount of damage.

The "catch", as it were, is to coincide the selected proc(s) with the build you are attempting to build. For my Science Officers who are in the side business of draining enemies while scienceing them to (usually compacted) smithereens, Polaron weapons are the way to go.

For anyone who builds themselves around criticals (increased hit rate and severity), there's probably nothing better than Antiproton.

And then there's the ever popular torp boat... :)
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Phasers... mostly, unless the build dictates throwing in another type of array (e.g. for a 3-pc set)

There is no 'BEST' weapon type....jeez!

I always go with the classic types for my characters: Feds use phasers (or very rarely tetryon, like on my caitian atrox), KDF characters use disruptors, republic characters use plasma.

As far as which one I like best, I'd have to say plasma for a few reasons. I love the damage over time associated with plasma weapons (both energy and projectile), as when I get an enemy to low hull I can switch targets and just let that one burn the last percent or two to exploding. I also love the visual effects for plasma weapons. Always loved plasma torpedoes in particular.

With ground weapons, I really like the romulan republic plasma weapons over other types available in the game. The models look good, but the full auto/repeating beam style of fire is much more natural feeling for ground combat than the other weapon types are.

Phasers for me. I like knocking systems off-line, especially when it gets shields.

I prefer using phasers on my Fed toon for immersion's sake. That a number of recent(ish) additions to the game have helped pump of phaser damage to the point that I think it's competitive again is icing on the cake.

      Love mine.

      Only 3 votes for Disruptor...

I thought we had a bunch of KDF aficionados here on the forums ?

Disrputors are great. Especially Coalition Disruptors... unless they are bugged and I just don't know it. Thinking about switching all my KDF tactical and engineer captains to that weapon. I traditionally give all my science captains polaron weapons regardless of the faction. Disruptors are actually the weapon type I use the most at the moment.

Disruptors (normal and Coalition): KDF Tactical #1, KDF Engineer, Fed Engineer #2
      Polaron: Romulan Science, KDF Science
Plasma: Romulan Tacticle (Gonna switch over to (Plasmatic Biomatter once I have a full set)
      Phasers (Agony): Fed Engineer #1
      Antiproton: KDF Tactical #2
      Tetryon: Fed Tactical
      Torpedo: Fed Science

I quite like phase (biomolecular and phased for me.), Plasma (any of them are nice for various things.), and the withering disruptor too. Though I will say I have been hoping to see a variation of the Photonic polaron weapon that woud use the tetryon over polaron for its base energy type. So a photonic tetryon weapon type that has the shield draining/stripping proccing effect of the tetryon, an the ability to procc a shield bypassing proton blast as the secondary, which would make for quite an interesting combo depending on how they work the procc as being able to both stripe an bypass shields with on type might be quite fun.

voted disruptors for the amount of set bonuses and proc variations available
