Not sure how many of you playing tribble but there commodities which been used replaced with EC value, so is that a good idea, to have all commodities needed for projects get replace with ec, and throw EC into fleet projects, or current state of investing in fleet project is just ok.

I guess we will get that change at 25.10.2016. same as new fleet Holding also not sure do we lossing Battlegroup Omega or not. But next update gonna bring us some interesting changes. Tho without need for Commodities what is future for them, except doffing needs?

So thats reason why i opened this pool as i undecided is that good or bad.

I guess OP you have no idea what a pain in the backside it is when you're the one buying most of the stuff for projects. This is a great 'common sense' QoL addition!

This is a great QoL improvement. It used to take forever getting together all of that other stuff sometimes, plus I would much rather throw EC at it than waste valuiable dil. I think it's also a good option for an EC sink.

Commodities and consumables were annoying, but good god those ones that took photon launchers or peregrine fighters as inputs? Those are going to straight EC as well.

As for the future of commodities, aside from contraband and the blue gamma quadrant commodities, they were in the game at launch and served no purpose except vendor trash. They got some use in diplomacy and cluster missions later, which are both gone now, but the fact is, commodities were in the game for a long time with much less use than they'll still have after this patch comes out.

Old system: spend EC for fleet projects, but only through particular vendors which often take several map changes to reach.

New system: spend EC for fleet projects.

Commodities for doffing is sufficient to justify their existence (since in the quantities required you can often supply, or at least supplement, what you need through more doffing. It's part of the system.) They don't need to be involved with fleets simply to make that system less convenient.

As far as I know, you'll still need them for Doff missions, so they won't be going anywhere.

I liked the commodities being required for fleet projects, gave them more of a purpose beyond DoFFing. Now I'm not going to bother to buy a Tuffli, becuase I will have no need for discounts on large stacks of commodities (for my fleet)

In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.

The only thing that stays with the Fleet System is when you require Contraband. So getting rid of the Commodities besides Contraband is nice.

It will definitely be nice not to have to go to the embassy or a starbase for all of the commodities not stocked at ESD & First City.

Several map changes for commodities? Hmm, when I was a part of a fleet. I never did a map change for commodities. I just used the replicator.

Some days, I forget the test server is Tribble...

I was thinking "Tribbles in fleet projects." Was getting ready to dump my thousands of tribbles.

First, lemme be clear that, mechanically, this is a sound QoL change. My problem with it--and it's minor--is that it detracts from the flavor of fleet projects. It won't mean much mechanically, and I'll probably ultimately appreciate the time it saves, but the different commodities required gave different holdings (and even different projects within the same holding) a touch of identity that's lost if everything's just 'a few million EC.'

My understanding was that things like Torpedoes did not get converted to EC. I have been on Tribble but am not a Fleet member over there so I have no first-hand knowledge.

The big thing, did they convert those stupid Doffs to EC?
