Sell a fleet?

This might be an old question and probably answered over the years...Can a fleet be sold? Any rules against it? I'm one of the last remaining players of an established fleet and frankly looking to move on but still continue to play the game. Just wondering, I appreciate any input.

Such transactions are almost universally against MMOs' terms of service. It might be legal to exchange it for in-game currency (pretty sure it'd have to be EC), but even that's really dicey. You might be better served by recruiting heavily for the fleet to rejuvenate it.

Any real currency transaction could get yours and the other person's account banned. But I would be willing to trade you some ingame currency or items for the chance to get another fleet I control into my Armada without starting from scratch?

I think he or she probably meant in-game currency though the warnings were a good idea.

If it's going to be a bidding game my start bid will be 5 mil ec and an extra 1 mil for every level over lvl 10 that the fleet is and i'll also throw in a fleet ship module if it's over level 20!

I'll give you 2 strips for it.

You're offering to strip again? I thought you gave that up?

No, as the fleet is not an "asset" or "inventory item" that can be dropped on the exchange or transacted within a trade window.

"Can a leadership position in a fleet be granted by a current fleet commander for... other considerations?"

Yes. Do keep in mind, however, that the ToS generally prohibits attempting to garner "Outside of Game Compensation" (usually RL Money) for "in game" assets.
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

You "can" sell a fleet for in game items but there's no system in the trade window to ensure that nobody get's screwed. Either you have to get paid your items first, THEN give them control of the fleet or give them control of the fleet and then trust them to give you the in game items.

I've done so before but it was a hair raising event.

We're talking about ingame currency, it's pretty easy to make more and I buy stuff for my fleet banks all the time without expecting anything back. Worth the risk for me on what I have offered as starting a new fleet from scratch will undoubtedly cost more.

If you find 3 others you can give me a message @wisecasper in game and I can switch to a character without a fleet and help you.

Yes, a fleet can be sold. Would it be easy to find a buyer? Likely no.

The buyer is taking all the risk. They could pay you up front and you kick them. They could pay you part up front and you still kick them. You could fully promote them and then they pay you, then you reclaim the position.

Any fleet that would be worth buying is simply too costly in EC to take the risk, IMHO and if someone wants to take the risk, it's totally on them with no safety net.

While everyone else has voiced very valid concerns against selling a fleet, there's one other problem. The fleet itself. Unless you're a fleet of 1 you're going to have to sell the idea of selling it to the rest of your fleet. Bob may be onboard with selling the fleet, but hes a ferengi. They'd sell their own mother for the right price. Jack wanted to fly the real big ships and may or may not float the boat depending on what assurances he'd have on being able to fly the big ships once you're gone. Lou, though, has been there since the beginning and probably isn't very hip to the idea of just giving all his hard work up for a few credits.

I would suggest keeping your fleet. If you have more than one character, choose a character to own and manage that fleet. Most people who own their own fleet use it for the additional bank slots.

Unless your fleet has T3 holdings and a T5 starbase, I doubt you will get a good price for it. Again, just keep it.

You may want to attach your fleet to an Armada if you plan on keeping the fleet on a manage character, especially to an Armada that is related to another fleet your plant to join. That way, you have a means of earning Fleet Credits should the other fleet you do join has all their projects full.

Just a few ideas. Good luck!
