Brace for Impact / Polarize Hull / Aux to Structural Integrity --> when your shields are down, or about to go offline.

(1 or 2) Neutronium Plates for energy and kinetic resistance.

Also, a good offense is the best defense.

Other then that; post your skill tree, and ship layout for more info.

You must be fighting the Romulans. Basically, you have to stay farther away from 5 km out or they will tractor beam you and shove 3 plasma torpedoes down your throat. That is the quickest fix.

Hazard Emitters for when they light you on fire with their plasma beams and torps

At level 30, you should get a new free ship.

It depends on your playstyle, but personally I go for the escort (although I am klingon on my current char, and the Raptors absolutely wreck everything they touch).

If you can, mount all Mk VIII gear - dual phaser banks on the front and a torpedo launcher, and a beam array and torpedo launcher on the back. Also, make sure you have your traits mapped out and skill points done. The game has an annoying tendency to reset your traits sometimes when you get a new trait point.

The Consoles you are using in the Tactical slots need to match the weapon types fitted.

I personally put an allowance of about 50K EC that I spent getting slightly improved parts from the Exchange, and If the quests had given me anything cool, I would spend some dil upgrading them with the stack of tech upgrades I landed.

Make sure you have Bridge Officers assigned to all 4 stations, and look at the skills they are using. Some are a lot better than others. Personal favourites of mine Beam Fire At Will, Beam Overload, Torpedo High Yield, and Torpedo Spread.
On your engineering and science stations, you need things like Emergency power to Shields and Hazard Emitters.

Make sure you have a decent shield array equipped as well.

I actually got the accolade earlier for completely wrecking a Tal Shiar Battleship without him getting a hit on me. Although, the cloak went a large way towards that, as I cloaked at 22KM out, impulse speed in then kill the impulse and park at about 5KM behind him, decloaked and missile shot which instantly took his shields offline and got his hull down to 75%.

The disruptors I have are boosted by a Directed Energy Console, Fire At Will, and a Disruptor Coil Console which boosts my damage by around 40%. I also have an AmbiPlasma console to boost my Plasma Torps, which not only do immediate damage, but add a 10 second DoT - for the first surprise shot I hit High Yield first, then decloaked and fired.

    I hope this helps.

Tactical Team is also very useful, it will automatically reinforce the shield face that's being damaged

Yes, forgot this one. I actually have this on mine as well. I am a Tac Officer in a fast Raptor escort, which has a commander and a Lieutenant Tac station as well, so I am running a near pure DPS set-up. But I also have reinforced hull consoles and Shield Emitters to add a small amount of tanky ability to it for those moments I do get caught in tractor beams, and have to tank it out.

Also, being on XBox One, I have everything set to auto queue, so with a little forethought I can pretty much get through most battles.

OP, don't rush in either. Sometimes its best to see if its possible to flank your enemies so they don't see you immediately, and you can jump them and get the extra stun they will take from a surprise attack. Go around them, and stay outside the 10KM range from them until you can see your position is good , and they have a fair bit to go to flank you.

But having the cloak really does help, I don't think I could live without it now.

Oh, another thing. Always keep Shield and Weapon Batteries stocked up in your device slots (each slot will hold 20 of each), and if possible, set them to auto-use as well when needed.

What really helps is if you can afford buy a T4 c-store ship. It makes the situation basically night and day.

Also, playing as an escort, I am also using Science Stealth Console and it helps in that enemy targeting misses you a bunch.

Another saver is Jam Sensors which can buy you a little time say to move all power to engines, and get far enough away the enemy disengages and you can repair.

I had huge issues with Romulans kicking my rear at first, too. Rapid death.

I helped myself by getting +damage resist rating consoles, and also re-doing my Boffs. I hadn't really set them up right, or at all. Now I use all the debuff clearing powers, and I set them to auto fire when debuffed, not at hull %. I think there is one that can't be set that way, but still. Set your EPtS to auto fire at 75% or 50%.

The best advice I can give is that you level up using an escort with beams. The escort is the most maneuverable ship in the game.

Always have Beam fire at will (2 copies if you can) this will help with all the minor annoying small crafts and targetable torpedoes that tend to fly in your path.

As for me, I always start with Tac team then Beam Fire at Will and Torpedo spread. Then an extra copy of BFaW .

And last but not least, play smart, yes; most new gamers seem to forget this part.

In my experience I have seen many gamers just rush into a BIG swarm of enemy ships like dumb assess and they always seem to wonder why they die so quickly.

If you have a Frankenstein build, which most new gamers have as they are leveling up, then it is important to think smart.

Don’t try to take on every ship at the same time. Try agroing one ship and have them follow you to a safe distance and take them down, one by one until you are strong enough to take on the whole mob.

There is not much else to say other than to think smart.

I have used this method time and time again leveling all of my 9 toons and I have never had an issue with it.

This game is not hard at all if you take the time to think smart, but a good number of players would rather spend 2 hours being dumb assess and then running to the forums and cry nerf, nerf, nerf, then to pay attention for a few minutes to find a good strategy to defeat the level.

Well good luck on your journey to max level.

heres a tip Op if the romulan ship tractors you use BFaW and fire like mad that should handle the heavy plasma torp atack and do some decent damage aswell.

Gravity Well or Tykens rift(on the Romulan Ship before it fires torps), or Tractor Beam Repulsors (after it fires) are also good options.

Seen a lot of good info for people having issues. One thing I haven't seen which helps me a lot is if flying romulan ships you also have the plasma shockwave ship ability as a last resort on most if not all romulan ships to deal with those heavy plasma torpedoes, or any other destroyable torpedoes, you haven't been able to destroy before it's about to hit you. Any destroyable attacks within 5km of you when used are destroyed.

Hehe, I haven't heard Owned for years. Comes from pre Internet times, back when consoles where made of rocks and sticks. Controllers had 4 buttons and a cord.

When you was beaten by someone or a NCP beat you in a game you WAS OWNED, DUDE!! YEAH!

Research your build. Sounds like your skills are all wrong, too. I can survive in a T1 ship on a lvl 60 mission. It's not bragging, it's experience. (And it can be HARD)
Nothing breaks the tension better than a tankard of warnog - except maybe a good brawl...
