Fun little idea...

I'd love to see a special event, maybe for a weekend, where you can do some sort of pve, or a new mission/quest, where you can capture an opposing faction vessel.

It would be a random vessel of a decent tier. Like a fed toon acquires, say a Nausican cruiser or a Hapax warbird.. Or a KDF toon captures a star cruiser or a nebula class. Romulans can get the opposing ship of who their are aligned with.

Would be sorta interesting, I think.

Like, to keep? Or just to take out for a spin during a mission, like we do with the Obelisk, Dyson, etc.?

    Not to keep certainly.

I don't think it would be very possible to do a random ship, but that's for the Devs to declare or not.

I like the general idea to fly other factions' ships during certain missions. After all, the Feds get to take a BoP for a spin during the Doomsday Machine mission and all the KDF got to fly was a lousy runabout. ;) We both (factions) probably want to fly a warbird, at least for a little while.

Uh, how about you actually take another players ship away from them, they lose it permanently (unless its reclaimable) and they get yours like a trade.

Like kids did back in the day with G.I. Joes, baseball cards, and PAWGs (POGGS?)

    Not going to happen.

    Sorry to sound rude,

Would seriously tick off anyone that is interested in faction exclusivity. If it doesn't include Tier 5 or Tier 6 ships, then it might work since Romulans are allowed to fly up to Tier 4 of their allies' ships.

sounds like a bad idea to me, too much of a gamble.
without knowing that not only the ship but also the weapons stats were evenly matched there is way too much risk of losing your ship.
in any case seeing as it would be prohibited by cryptic to use free event ships as they are reclaimable as are c-store ships the only ships you would be able to use would be the free levelling ships anyway.
of course you could gamble lockbox ships but when you consider the lengths players go to get these its highly unlikely anyone would want to gamble with them.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

That's certainly the only real way to justify doing it. I might suggest that if you did that you only got 5 uses out of it though (to keep interest in the event and to not overload the admiralty roster with endless ships.

But the thing is.... theoretically by the time you are an admiral, the storyline has got to a point where the factions are cooperating more and more... and it makes no sense to nick other factions ships and you certainly should not be taking Romulan ships at all... unless you are taking them from the Tal Shiar.

Well, then use the ship yard standard ships, the free ones when one levels up. No harm made there, yo.

i would satisfy and with t1 and t2 ships of opposite faction to get them under my command, tho i would mostly like to see a Ambassador class under command of KDFRomulan

Interesting idea. You could make it a team thing so the winning team gets 24 hours use of the admiralty card of the ship from one of the players in the losing team. And the member of that team loses use of their ship's admiralty card for 24 hours and the PVE has a 24 hour cooldown per ship so you can switch ships to try your luck and risk another of your admiralty cards.

There is another way something like this could work. A mission with a prize ship, kind of like Temporal Ambassador. The prize ship could be T5u, and have the same stats, like the Kamarag/Ambassador. The difference, though, is that the KDF player keeps the Fed ship, and the Fed player keeps the KDF ship. T5u would work, because it would give a player the coolness of flying a captured ship, and it would be adequate for end game play but not over powered. The mission could be about stealing a ship that was captured by a common enemy, like the Tal Shiar or the Na'kuhl. Maybe the ship is a complete Alien mock up, and is not KDF/FED in the first place.
With all due respect to the player who suggested this business about playing for keeps with ships...NO! I would never play that mode. I'm not sure which I would hate more, taking someone's ship from them or losing one that way. Also, it would be too easy for cheaters to break the system, transferring ships from one account to the other, trading account bound ships and such. If, though, you and your friends want to gamble with ships this way, you could always agree that the loser will buy the winner one from the exchange. I don't recommend doing this, but I guess it could be done by those who want that mechanic in the game.

It would be one of these rare weekend event things, like the Doff one we had.

Also, another cool thing is, with diplomacy....how ya can get an opposing faction Boff, well, why not a ship? :)
