bean overload is far to powerful! i seen a guy hit another guy for like 40k damage! was ridiculous!
also, please buff science. it's not fair that a beam overload can hit like that in one shot and my gravity well can only do 10k per tic. :{
Edit: when i first made this post i figured 40k beam overload would be received as a joke. after all, 40k hit in todays 150k dps? where is the sense of humor i used to see on this forum? instead a bunch of trolls read the first post, make a conclusion based on that and feel the need to comment some idiotic remark. for the record, i know 40k is low.

what we need are some torpedos that proc a shield offline and hit bare hull... was thinking like 100% proc rate. add in additional damage for every enemy withing 10k.

Pfft....I've seen an HY Enhanced Bio-photon hit for over 300K once, and my Isokinetic Cannon easily hits for over 200K in a single shot.
40K damage from a one hit is nothing, literally. Just go see what a proper feedback pulse build can do....

First and foremost, beam overload is far from the most powerful ability or combination in the game. also, I've seen hits be dealt for upwards of 750k+. Heck i've dealt hits for over 150k myself. While it may not be the most common thing it can be done legitimately. There are ways of playing around virtually all abilities in pvp or pve both. If anything needs to be nerfed I can think of at least 3 other abilities that need to be nerfed before beam overload is even a thought. I personally despise feedback pulse and it used to be the bane of my existence. I still despise the ability but have learned to play around it. If you think someone is going to hit you with a beam overload, hit a reverse shield polarity, rock and roll, subnuc beam to purge it before it fires, etc. There's tons of options you have. considering some of the hits i've seen get thrown out in this game 40k is child's play.
As for powers, beam overload deals all of its damage up front where as your gravity well deals it over time. In fact if you're doing 10k per tic as you say then your gravity well is actually going to deal more damage than his overload since you'll get at least 5 tics of damage per well, usually alot more than that in my observations. So his 40k compared to your 5 tics for 10k a pop, you're dealing more damage which would mean your gravity well needs nerfed and not his overload.
Believe me I've seen alot of strange stuff and busted mechanics in game, but beam overload isn't one of them.

4 mods on a weapon is so 2015. what we need is a beam with 6 mods. one of them could be [imm]. every time you hit you get immunity to the next 5 hits.
