"Linking" existing Characters to consoles

This is NOT about LTS account transfers but just generic arc characters/accounts transfer to the console.

Does anyone know if you always need to create a "new" character in console. Why aren't you able to transfer an existing PC character or other arc account into it? I could care less about the benefits or ships associated with it but I assuming there is no way to "link" an existing account.

Why then have the "link account" option built in the console? This is confusing to some console players.

new platform so everyone starts from scratch... frankly I wouldnt start till they get AoY up and running for the event bonus... was the AoY event released on consoles? I dont think it was... sides I dont think the console players will stick with STO... its too much pay to win with ships and consoles in gamble boxes. once a parent gets their bill and see kids buying $100s of worth of keys... your gonna get a lot of credit card reverals from Sony/MS. It happens with alot of microtransaction games on phones.

You mean just a tailor export - import of your look?

Even that has problems since PC probably has costumes that are not included on the consoles.

It could be done, but it probably makes more sense for Cryptic to have a developer work on the missing pieces of the console game first. If it ever happens it's item # 1024 on the to-do list.

    Missing features (yes, includes AoY):

Yeah, sure console players will abandon STO for being "pay to win" (protip: it isn't, really). After all, it's not like console gamers are willing to kick down ten bucks or so per DLC for games that aren't quite finished yet when they're released... (Wait a minute, Bethesda sold how many DLC Season Passes for Fallout 4? And they cost how much?)

all good traits & ships are in gamble boxes... also the best Doffs... you know the ones that cost 10s to 100s of mil of ec on the exchange... all from gamble boxes. You also have consoles & ships locked behind lobi that is gotten from gamble boxes too... yes you can play without but if you want to be THE BEST you need to pay up. Or Grind like crazy... hey do they have a dil to zen exchange on Console? But you know, "Time is Money, Friend" is true and folks play games to have fun... not work a 2nd or 3rd job. You also have a divided player base on consoles, from what I recall XB and PS cant play together right?

Hey, I've played all the way through on my main, and the only money I spent was to buy a Yorktown-class because I wanted a T6 that looked like my old T5 Odyssey-class star cruiser (that I got for free when the class was first introduced to the game). You don't need to "buy" anything at all, not even with time (unless you think five minutes at a time for 25 days during the summer event is just too much time to "spend" to get a free T6 ship).

Like All Hands on Deck and Emergency Weapon Cycle? Oh wait, those are C-Store ships.

It's true that if you "need" to go over 100K DPS "because reasons" then you might be spending hundreds of millions of EC on traits, doffs, manuals, etc.

But no player "needs" to do that.

And? That's true of most things in life, but people who don't own a $10,000 rolex can still find out what time it is.

Account transfers are permanently out of the question since there is no way for the servers to talk. Besides, you have stuff on your characters can't transfer over to the Consoles since they don't exist yet, like Doffs, admiralty cards, fleet weapons and consoles, fleet ships and anything else that has come out in recent years.

For those don't know it yet... there is no such thing as free. Someone had to spend money and the whole pay 2 win thing is just misunderstood people coming to grips with life's realities. This is however a game where it can be easily played without any extras. Since PvP doesn't exist here there is no reason to buy a single box or gear from them. I've been playing since 2010 and do not use any lockbox gear or ships. I prefer either fleet or upgraded gear which can be account shared. All of which is free or at least paid for by investing time just playing the game. The only thing epeening in this game is DPS league stuff that doesn't really mean anything in a game that hands out DPS like a candy store on halloween.

As for PS4 losing players we'll see, right now I'm playing and there are 1000s more playing ps4 than pc. If STO doesn't get the missing stuff added soon those people will probably move on once the story is done. I'm level 43 right now but no doffs, crafting, upgrades (no raw mats dropping get to make upgrade mats), fleet bases, or PvP improvements. So once the story is played it's done. Most console games keep people going with PvP but this game doesn't have that despite the marketing touting it "throughout the galaxy" to console players.

I'm excited for consoles and all the new players but fear it will die quickly if improvements don't come soon. There are many frustrated players in chat on console with the lack of direction or guides for playing it. The control scheme is awkward especially camera controls but I expected some with fitting everything on a controller. I wish we could customize our controllers.

Why is there a "Link to account" in the console dashboard then? It does not make sense to have that one and should be removed.

Like I said I could care less about LTS or other F2P rewards or ships that came with former subs. All I care is just transferring the design of a former character or perhaps just the name even if they have to start at "0" level?

For those who say...entirely different platform....I get that. However, did you notice that in the future they will also link the exchange to be in common with PC/PS/Xbox. If that is totally different platform why should I be able to sell a Connie T6 from a PC to someone who is on console?

Anyways, please remove the "link to account" option in the console dahsboard please. confusing as heck!

Link to account is to link your gamer tag on Xbox to your Arc account which will grant you the Ricardo Monteban Khan outfit. There's no other way to receive it.

Rolex is real, game life/status is different... As a EQ/WOW player... you can be end game and get the Bestest with skill and teamwork... along with some luck and DKP... Doesnt cost $.

Also P2W isnt that big an issue in this game cause PVP is a joke to non existent...

Please you have 4 or 5 ship traits to slot... once you add in Spec Traits... how many are left open? Of those your saying the Zen Store ship traits rank out as the best you can use? Lobi/Gamble Box would win out those remaining ship traits slots. But yeah you can use Zen store ones to make do... but it wont be the "Bestest" you can optimize for PewPew. I am saying the Best Is Pay to Win... am I wrong? The "Best" is behind a pay wall... I have never said you cant make do and enjoy PVE on normal with Cstore... heck you can do it with just the free event ships... But I dont think this games economy will thrive on consoles. Once the novelty wears out... I dont think consoles players will stick with it... especially with the fractured PS4/XB1 audience.

Sure, if you insist on riding in a T6 Connie with CrtD x 4 AP beams and every possible high end trait and best possible DOFF set you'll need to either spend real world money or grind for a very long time. Just like you'll need to grind for a very long time to have the best of everything in any other MMO or even single player ARPG. That extra 5% of goodness costs an extra 10,000% of effort.
