What is the effect of making a 23c captain, exactly?

Returning player here, preparing to make a new Fed toon.

I've been Googling around, but I don't really understand what the effect of making a 23c captain is compared to a 25c. I'm the sort of player that spends hours making sure every button on my uniforms is just so, so I really want to know what's cool or infuriating in the customisation department before I commit to a new character.

New tutorial, beam out animations, sounds, tricorders, a few select Boff abilities have 23rd cent. looks to it, etc...they are all TOS. Other than that nothing changed.
You also missed the event, to significantly upgrade your account by leveling a TOS character. Too bad.
    Go pro or go home

    And most importantly... ^^^
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.

Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.

Are there any hangups to going all-in on TOS style? I know in the past things like factional transporter FX have been weird

In short, it's basically for those who wish to step into the boots of a captain from the ToS and roleplay from that perspective. They tried to synchronize as much of the effects, animations, storyline and skills as they could to fit in with ToS.

Only the cost, if you missed out on the TOS Pack giveaway on the 8th. The factional transporter works fine for 23c captains - Kevin Timeline's recently finished the Breen storyline (hey, I can't always play every day!), is at level cap, flies a 31c Paladin-class with the Ranger skin (USS Time Bandit), and still has the "golden glitter" beamout and the big boxy 23c tricorder.

Hmm, I made a 23c Captain during the event, but didn't level her much. It's not too late to get the rewards, is it?

I mean, the part that matters is having created her during the event, right? Like my Delta Recruit who is still languishing at level 22...

Did you get your 23c captain oast level 10 onto the 24th century? Check their inventory if you have the timescout badge (temporal transponder epic device ) youre good.

So, I've been Googling a bit, how is the availability of 23c powers? And how well do regular BOffs play with the theme?

The major major drawback of the AOY twenty-third Century Captain's is you're limited to 4 alien species including humans and it can't be transferred to the captain you've had for the last 6 years.

Other than that it's pretty spiffy.

I normally play Aliens so I created a Mustache Vulcan (tm)
