    ^ What is that?

when someone makes a really good post, I put that up

It's very distracting Bailey. I keep staring at them cookie(s). ahem...

Does anyone else find it odd that you'll always hear people suggest, "Oh, no big deal, just buy it for EC"
(While it is the best way to get a promo/lockbox ship for normal players who don't want to gamble) I can't help but feel this type of promo facilitates 3rd party gold seller operations.
Think about it, Regular Players (who are not space rich) are being encouraged to drop RL $ on vast amounts of Keys and Promo packs, which are then being dumped on the exchange all at once (well - within a couple weeks - basically flooding the market)... Causing the supply to spike; More supply = declining EC value as sellers of these items (normal players) just want to get their EC's as fast as possible, and so keep under cutting each other.
I estimate its a gold farmers dream scenario, turning virtual currencies into RL money on the back end.

Eh, I suppose if it stimulates the economy by getting regular players to drop RL cash on Keys/Promo packs, I suppose we can all turn a blind eye if it keeps the game going..... Or can we ?
I still get at least several Gold Seller emails in game every time I turn the game on.
They must be making a profit. And guess what they primarily sell ? That's right, Keys. Subject lines for those emails are usually something like this; Massive Key Sale Now ! 20% off !
Then conveniently, you can also buy any ship from them your heart could desire...for guess what... cold hard RL cash.
Seems like its a good racket.

    Just food for thought.

But it's safer, easier and in the case of this ship cheaper to just spend RL cash for Zen directly from Cryptic. The third party operations are weaker in Cryptic games because of how Crytpic took control of the RL cash for in-game stuff market and made it their own.

You'll never get banned spending your money on zen through cryptic. You'll never get scammed by Cryptic. If you face any problems with the transaction you can go to Cryptic for support to sort it out. And with the zen - dil - ec economy that exists, it's really just baked into the process right now.

There's no need for third party sellers in a cryptic game.

Someone posted in one of the t6 connie meltdown threads that gold sellers were asking like 200 bucks for the tos ships.

They're almost half as cheap if you just buy zen and the items for ec on the exchange.

Yeah I was just looking at a few emails last night; like 190$ USD for the T6 Connie.
Pretty sure that's what they were asking.

FYI, I would never risk my account on something like this @snoggymack22 . But I keep getting the emails, like one or two new emails per day. So it just makes me wonder if these sites actually make money.. I just find the topic interesting. I wouldn't condone using any these sites.
    :P

Oh yeah, I get a ton of those emails too.

Didn't realize this ends the day before pay day. I guess I won't be getting a T6 Connie. Probably for the best that circumstances have protected my wallet from me, though.

This R&D Pack Promo was a boon to all the 'professional' sellers who got burned with the introduction of the Infinity Lockbox. That Lockbox relentlessly drove the price down on Ships, Skills, and Consoles that they were making a fortune on.

The Infinity was the great equalizer. Now we need an 'Infinity'-type Promo Pack. You win a ship, you choose which one of those you want from previous Promo Packs.

For me, I will pick up the Kelvin Timeline Constitution in two Infinity Lockboxes, when the Kelvin stuff gets added to the Infinity and the price drops like a rock.

Pretty sure i called this months ago, didn't surprise me at all and will likely single-handedly fund the game for the next six years or so. The infinity box will ensure a fairly decent supply and price point all things considered. It's space barbie, pay or don't pay who really cares? if you think $150-200 is a lot to pay for a digital item you should look at some other MMO's. Some offer items briefly and never add them again while others like Eve Online will charge somewhere in the ballpark of $8,000 for a single ship that can be permanently destroyed.

We have thing pretty good over here. How much enjoyment will that T6 Connie bring you over the next few years? I think it's been established STO isn't gong anywhere so you needn't worry about that. Hell you'd probably spend $200 or more on a good model of a Connie to put in your house so i think having one that you can customize to your hearts content and fly into actual combat would be the wet dream of any TOS fan and quite a bargain at that price.
