I'm of mixed mind, I love what they've done with sector space, not a huge fan of common ground locations. KDF type areas look great, while ESD just seems "off" to me somehow.
Knocking down some brightness levels by default would be a good start for tweaks.
Example at normal brightness (enjoy your blindness):
So far, what I noticed:
-the lightning effects on NPC (for example when they go from a shadow-covered area to a lit area and vice-versa) are hilariously bad, it simply doesn't work, with NPC suddenly going lit or shadowed at random. Especially seen in the First City
-the console screens are way too bright, making them unreadable
-the glare effect (when you go from a dark area to a lit one, everything goes brighter before becoming normal as your character's eyes adapt to the sudden light) is nice
-some translucent interface have blank textures (like some on the D4x)
I agree that the new lighting system has a way to go before it works right. Which is basically why they've said it won't be coming to Holodeck for a while, so they can continue to tweak it and get it right. That's the whole point of the tribble server after all.
