So, after my Andorian escort mess, I'm left wondering why can't we upgrade parts from the ships that we've earned through promotions or(even worse) we've bought through the Lobi or C-store? We own them and should not have any restrictions on upgrading them imposed on us. The parts are bond and therefore cannot be sold on the exchange. Trying to use it for EC farming would be worthless nowadays. Also, wouldn't this be a good Dilithium sink? I'll admit I never noticed before because I usually had better parts availiable with the shipboard stuff being recycled and the info wasn't really around(until now). Seems a bit underhanded when it's a rare ship. Was it always this way or a mistake when there were changes to the upgrade system? Regardless, I believe this needs to change now that there will be even more people noticing. Anyone else?
Because it's basically the nadir of content. While leveling you can pick up higher quality gear from the shipyard vendor. I think once you get to T5 and T6 you start picking up Mk X (where IX is the limit from the vendors) but it would be a mistake to try upgrading this gear (waste of resources compared to all alternatives) and there are plenty of alternatives (ex. crafting, random loot, fleets, rep projects, rep boxes, lock boxes, exchange)

Until you start talking about some rare ships. My whole fiasco with the Andorian started because I wanted an Andorian heavy dual cannon with different mods then the ones from my fleet. The KT ships and others like them are the same. But now we're talking about stepping on the gambling aspect...

*The Common weapons and ship parts have never been upgradeable.
*That Common ship gear can not be upgraded was covered when the Upgrade system went live.
*You can now upgrade your Andorian wing cannons.
No one really cares about MK X common gear that comes on a new ship purchase, since you likely have better/more powerful gear equipped on your last ship or available thru loot drops or even some of the low end gear on exchange is all better so there is no incentive to change it.
If you want a particular type say Herald Antiproton or Undine Antiproton those come from lockboxes when the various unique ships were the FOTM.

Andorian Phasers are just blue phasers without any different proc effects. You could use Phased Biomatter weapons they are almost the same color Blue and offer different proc effects that can be usefull.

Thanks, I know that because I have several different types. I just wanted to see what I could come up with, not knowing my hands were tied.
What would be nice, and has been asked for many times, would be if we could craft the special flavors of weapons from ships that we own. Like Xindi beams, Tholian torpedoes, etc.
Also, we need missing pieces like Andorian, etc. Omni beams.
OP, believe me, it's cheaper to make your own than it would be to upgrade base ship weapons. Literally no-one I know would even bother trying to upgrade a white weapon. You're only burning dilithium, when, as I said, you can make a superior version far cheaper.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
With that said I agree with you in principle that everything should be upgradeable. It increases our options, it gives some people a sense of immersion, and you are correct it would be a small dil sink. So, I hope you find a solution that works for you.
What would be nice is after reaching say level 20 in crafting you could craft versions [DHC, turrets, omni-beam, dual beams, etc] of the special weapons like the Dominion Polaron, Chromometric polaron , Resonant disruptors, Wide-Angle Torpedo and other weapons not currently available via Lockbox or limited by type. I think that would be a desired sink for dilith for a lot of players. Much better to start off with a Mk II VR weapon for upgrading than a Mk X Common anyday. Maybe someone should start a crafting wish list thread, cause other than choosing mods for your weapon when crafting, crafting currently story unique items would be near the top I think even if they added some levels say level 20+ that each level unlocked a certain mod you could choose vs random when crafting an item.
Edit .... Maybe they could even add certain items like the Anti-proton Torpedo and Zephram Cochrane Shotgun as the top teir crafting unlocks.

No, no, no, no, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Sorry, but that's like asking Ford to start building Escort XR3 RS 4x4's 30 years after they stopped producing it. They were exclusive, and you can no longer acquire them new. If you missed the event, tough. No if's or buts. Exclusivity breeds desirability, which in turn brings in more metrics for Cryptic.

It would be cool if they now included the 23c phasers in crafting(takes care of worrying about the Andorian stuff: they're copies). Better yet, you get to level 20 and you can craft versions of special items(common versions apply) you own: i.e. KT phasers, Herald AP, Borg warp core, etc. As well as having more of a chance at desirable mods(75dil or 1 rarity improvement item for +15% at getting Very Rare[CritD][CritH][Pen], 200dil or 2 RT "chips" for 20% at VR[CritD]x2[Dmg] 2000dil or 4 RT chips for 20% at VR[CritX]x2[Dmg]...Much more incentive.
crafting lockbox weapons i think no. besides with the infinity box thete is already a huge supply. but as kapla said the ones not currently available, yes that would be good.
Am I alone in wishing for a button that allowed you to remove and discard all the "OEM" equipment in one step if I so desire? I understand the need for them not to show up initially empty - some people won't have the gear to equip in its place - but I get so very tired of discarding all that TRIBBLE piece-by-piece, occasionally running up against the auto-equip feature that shows a window of all owned equipment that can be placed in that slot (sometimes randomly equipping it. grrrr). And no, I'm not using that function that grabs everything off your previous ship and equips it all on the new one. I want a single command to remove the OEM gear, so that I can then selectively equip what I want, where I want.
That would also be nice. For safety's sake it could only destroy any common white gear that's equipped in case you are planning to dry dock a ship and forget to take off something you slotted.

thats b.s. im new and i just got my andorian ship. It allows me to upgrade plasma dual heavy cannons that is common but doesn't allow me to upgade the andorian phaser dual heavy cannons common... or the andorian phaser turret.. an they are both common. Why have a low level item for a unique ship like the ANDORIAN lt escort if you are stuck with the low level weapons that come with it as you level up.. at least sell the higher level versions of the UNIQUE weapons that are named UNIQUELY for that ship. if they never were going to allow us to upgrade them then they could've just saved attaching the unique name title on the weapons in the first place. That's like buying a Bentley with a standard bentley key made by Bentley (not keyless entry) but gotta go to a thrid party company or vendor to buy the keyless entry. If i have a bentley i dont want a ford key i want the matching bentley key.. makes sense...
"thats b.s. im new" You left out the snowflake part. Be sure to always lay claim to everything that (you believe) makes you entitled and due special treatments.

Those cannons are limited to exactly those mods, so what you see in the fleet store is what you can get. To commit to those, you need to invest a lot of resources into either upgrading the VR or UR and take what you get from that. If you want to maximize your mods you are going to have to use off-color regular phasers. This is a cosmetic choice and thus comes with those limitations.

Nope, no more limitations: you just have to get a hold of a 23c version(DoD FTS drop), same but can get any mod. Plus, I got my account rolled back so I actual gained a better UR version of my bio-matter heavy while still getting my epic positron deflector and everything else. Guess I just needed to vent. Now just waiting for an upgrade weekend to change the uncommon[CrtH] heavy purple.
Two Acc's and a CrtH, that's ****. The fleet CrtD Dmg x3 is lightyears better.
Yea, I was hoping for [CrtD][CrtH][Dmg] at least. Had to try as an experiment. But since my fleet only has advanced weapons, the best the Andorian get to is [Acc]{Dmg]x3, This one is still a slightly better standard blue. Don't know if the elite versions are much different, we still have a ways to go before that anyway. That's life...

It just leave a bad taste when there are those type of restrictions on something that I supposedly "own"

We've been asking for a way to get empty ships or to delete the white gear for years.

Close to the Fleet Andorian, but better...
