Admiralty Rosters a complete mess

Admiralty Rosters a complete mess:

Hello. today i was going through the admiralty roster. I wanted to add in the ships which i forgot to add in before, a task i have been dreading.

the roster was a complete mess. you can only see a few ships at once and you have to scroll up and down to search for the ship. single use ships ("potions") also clog up the roster.

a spreadsheet export option would be useful. or perhaps all a filtering out of the single use ships.

also the filters would be more useful if the roster counter changed to say how many were in each class/tier etc. then at least i could work out which ships were missing from the roster.

anyhoo back to trawling through the rosters...

"Complete mess" is a bit of an overstatement but it sure is clunky, though a filter for those single use ships is sorely missed.
Maybe they didn't plan for those one time ships when they started developing it.

I like to see my ships that I use often near the top. Place the 1 time use only ships at the bottom. Or in it's own separate list.

It needs to be reworked in that area.

Section it off as well. And who in the Hell decided all my very best ships should stay at the bottom of the roster?

So, the OP is complaining about having to use the mouse wheel to review the Admiralty roster? The ship selection, BOff roster, DOff missions/roster & Exchange GUI's all work the same way. Maybe someone is too lazy to play STO... :s

i agree with the suggestion to turn the list upside down. putting the best ships at the bottom and the worst at the top is as bad a design idea as making the rnd materials show up above inventory when you're selling. just flipping the ship roster upside down would make it a lot more user friendly.

I'm the exception in that I do want the low-maintenance, low-stat ships at the top. That is so I can use them up first, and save the better ships for the harder projects. Why use the Kremin science ship on something that needs 60 science instead of something that needs 100?

I'm with you on that. But, the choice would be really nice. Along with the filtering option for 1x ships.

Filtering or stacking 1x ship cards would be really nice. Since it's so much cheaper to hoard cards than actual ships, I try to get one of each T6 ship and that adds up to a lot of space.

I like having the low-tier ships and small craft with less maintenance at the top. It makes filling easy missions or adding the last five points somewhere a bit quicker. But I wouldn't be too put out if it changed.

I wish the missions would auto-fill with minimum suggested ships like the doff system does with duty officers. It would save me a LOT of time scrolling and choosing ships.

Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

Interestingly enough, there is a pattern to the Admiralty Rosters, just takes a little getting used to.

Here are the "Sort Keys", as it were:

    Tier.
Rarity. (Common, Uncommon, Rare, VR, Epic). Pay a bit of attention here, rarity usually ties to ship delivery method (Common = levelling freebies, Uncommon = C-store, Rare = Fleet, VR = Lockbox/Lobi/event, Epic = Special) and/or strength (Vestas that are bought from the C-store at fleet level? Gonna be "rare" cards...)
    Engineering / Tactical / Science
By "name" or whatever. Though "potion" 1x Cards go first, then the actual ships (I have the Advanced Escort (T6). If I have a "one time use" card, it's usually right under the last "Rare" Engineering card I have, since I have no T6 C-store cruisers. Then I'll have a few more Tactical 1x use cards, then my "personal" reusable Adv. Esc. T6...)

So, once you "work out" a general idea of where the ship you're wanting is supposed to be, then a bit of scrolling to the appropriate place works wonders...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

  • My biggest problem with the admiralty system isn't the UI (tho I agree that it could be a little more user-friendly); it's that I simply don't have enough ships to even do the admiralty missions except for the most basic low-level ones; currently all the cards I have are from my KT Connie and my shuttles and freebie ships from leveling up, and I don't feel like spending a lot of money on high-end ships that I probably won't use much just to get their admiralty cards. When you think about it, it's kind of ingenious what Cryptic/PWE did there, by giving us an incentive to buy more ships from the C-store. This is why I don't mind doing the mirror event just for the ISS Stadi card; right now I need all the ship cards I can get.

Filters for faction, quality, tier and class would be nice.

Common ships are most levelling starships, such as the Light Cruiser. These are the lowest quality of Admiralty Ships.

Uncommon ships are most lockbox consolation prizes, such as the Mirror Universe Deep Space Science Vessel.

Rare ships are most C-Store ships with a fleet variant, such as the Mat'Ha Raptor.

Very Rare ships are most fleet ships and fleet-grade C-Store ships, such as the Fleet Mat'Ha Raptor and Scimitar Dreadnought Warbird.

Ultra Rare ships are most Lockbox, Lobi, and Promotion, as well as event ships, such as the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier, Jem'Hadar Attack Ship, Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier or Kobali Samsar Cruiser.

Epic ships are special rewards, namely giveaways or for reaching level 10 in admiralty campaigns, one such reward is I.K.S. Hegh.

Visible Tier separation would be nice, along with filter options to remove or show ship by rarity or use.

Then again we're still waiting for the ability to search for Duty Officers by species or traits.

Regarding the UI when you select an admiralty mission and then go to choose a ship to assign at the top where the ship roster is there is a filter with 3 options

    1. Role for Sci/Tact/Eng or small craft
    2. Tier 1-6
    3. Rarity

I have a completely free account, only thing on it is i converted enough dil to zen to buy the ec cap unlock. on that account my characters mostly run missions to get single use ships. there is even a mission that trwards a admiralty card you can replay to get more. i also hunt the auctionhouse for the cheaper ships, like mirror and the kazon raider or apc cruiser or nihydron destroyer. those are just a few million ec, but permanently unlock admiralty cards.

the pheonix card is really nice too since it turns off all event effects, like +sci etc. and that was free on first contact day.

any c-store ships they give away are a nice bonus, along with the event ships.

there are fleet ships too, but modules are expensive compared to mirror ships.

@theotherscotty#9105 try investing in the tier 5 "consolation prize" ships from the lock boxes. They're usually 5-7 million ec each and are a great way to fill out your roster. Even though I have a lot of c-store and event ships, I use the consolation ships more than any others for all but the toughest missions because they have solid stats and reasonable maintenance times. Just a suggestion; might really help.

I'd rather see my permanent ships at the top and the 1x use cards at the bottom. That alone would help me tremendously.
