Yes Yoda, I'm aware. But its a start.
Frankly I thought they were trying to bury PvP in power creep, then I saw this console.
It's not quite a game changer, but its a good first step, and shows the Devs have been listening, at least a little. For that I thank them.
I pretty much had given up all hope for pvp after I saw the new 31st C ship consoles and traits. Not to mention the Mining Laser.
This is at least a step in the right direction, and I welcome it.
But like you say, more Phys Resistance items/consoles are needed.

I'm sorry to brak this to you, but this means nothing. they have done similar things in the past, nerfing things that hurt PvP badly, but it was NEVER intended to improve PvP.
Don't kid yourself, Cryptic doesn't care, doesn't want and, most importantly , they don't know how to make PvP or make money without selling powercreep items.
Well aren't you a beacon of hope and optimism. @sharxtreme
Correction; this doesnt mean nothing "much".
What it does mean is that I have +60 Phys res at my disposal. 50 from the console, and 10 from trait. Its a huge improvement.
Yes PvP is still wonky, and its a losing battle to rebalance after each round of new power creep. Yes, their will always be power creep (but to what degree is the more important factor), too much and there would be no recovery possible. After all it is their business model to sell creep, and ever more powerful ships intermittently.
I am under no disillusions, that the Dev "really" care about PvP. And that they're working around the clock on new ways to improve PvP.
But this subject has come up numerous times, and maybe they've been watching the threads to some small degree.
+Phys Res was asked for in a number of forms, many times. Added to shields, added to consoles, new traits, whatever.
Maybe they thought, "Hey, we can make this console with little effort or time invested, it will help when facing Na'kuhl forces, but would also give PvP'ers a little Phys resist so they can shut up about it, already."
That's not very optimistic either, but ill take it.
Any relief we can get, even if it was a totally inadvertent side effect is welcomed by this 3.5 year PvP vet.
I still enjoy the PvP in this game, as crazy as it has become. And this makes it more enjoyable, at least for myself.
I was about to quit PvP altogether before the emergence of this console. It was that bad, especially with the latest round of Power Creep.
Many of the remaining PvP'ers were exploiting the Phys damage resistance weakness to sickening degrees, and now those avenues have been mostly closed, and are way less effective.
This is a win, as far as I'm concerned.
There are still issues, as Yoda has pointed out. But its a good start. And I'm pretty pleased atm.
It's a good day "not" to die, by Player to Player Phys damage.
Well aren't you a beacon of hope and optimism. @sharxtreme
Pure realism based on past experience.
And "good start"? Now? after 7 years of nothing? i don't believe it.
Fair enough, I can understand the sentiment.
But by good start, I mean against Phys (not necessarily PvP in general - we know it's been put on the backburner and is not high on the priority list).
However, it doesn't help other areas, like immunities and anti death traits. etc. So you make a fair point.
IMO, the worst thing about PvP lately were the Phys damage Players.
There was very little defense for it until the Datacore, and a lot of players took full, shameless, advantage of that fact. Slapping any and all Phys damage abilities and consoles on board their ships. All of which was powered by huge PartGen numbers and high Aux.
And this little miracle console does help combat that very annoying issue (at least for me), this is why I'm pretty pleased with its release.
Not saying pvp will be saved or even be balanced going forward, BUT it is a little better today thanks to this console.
Its pretty much cleared up any complaints I've had about facing Phys damage while doing pvp.

We need more physical resistance things.
