    Another good mission ruined by film grain. Why won’t the Dev listen to feedback on how bad the grain is. Well that's the last time I play that :(

    Are you aware that you can disable the film grain effect?
    This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    All I have seen is lots of people complain about not being able to turn it off. Not seen any option to switch just the film grain off.

    Being one of those weird people who like ground combat in this game, I'm looking forward to this. My new Boolean Cannon and Temporal kit modules are ready to go. Time to shoot some knife ears. :p

    I'd call ground combat underrated and space combat overrated by comparison. Anyone that thinks space combat is all that more advanced needs to try something like EVE Online. All that being said, I do like the ground missions as well...I played this one tonight. It's good but it's pretty rediculous how most of the Na'kuhl are just jacked up powerful.

    Played it once or twice on normal until I made sure I'm not lost like a chemist puppy :smiley:

    Once I got the basics down I moved on to advanced and finally elite. I think I found a new favorite ground mission :smiley:

    True, one needs to be careful with the Na'kuhl -- especially the commanders and their plasma cone attack X)

    And remember to duck! Snipers! >.<

    In “Miner Instabilities”, you're sent to Edren IV to investigate a temporal anomaly as part of a response team.

    Romulans have gorn and attacked the Federation-Gorn mining expedition!

    I spotted the heading on this thread and was hoping for a story. :disappointed:

    The most annoying thing about the Na'kuhl officers would be their doppelgangers. Fortunately, there are some countermeasures:
    • subspace comm jamming: aside from the damage debuff, this prevents the affected from summoning the doppelgangers (or mines);
    • Incite Chaos: just make sure the Na'kuhl in question isn't engaging a friendly, though;
    • multi-target/AoE weapons and abilities: split-beam rifles, grenades, the induction fields
  • zedbrightlander1zedbrightlander1 Member Posts: 14,764 Arc User
    Split-beam rifles are the best - IMHO. :)

    I think subspace comm jamming's range is far too small to be of any use, unless you are right in the middle of the spawning group. Plus Na'kuhl often open with summoning their "distortions" the second they hit the ground. If they happen to be too far away, by the time you get there they already have their distortions out and/or shooting at you.

    IMO, grenades and multi-target weapons/abilities are the winners here.

    Another idea for tac captains:
    Open with a graviton spike aimed right at the center of a group, then toss a grenade after them - preferably neutronic because of the large damage radius (or something similar). Send any survivors flying with a pulsewave secondary. :smiley: Or just snipe an exposed one with an exploit weapon.

    I don't know about anyone else, but I have to put my gfx sliders all the way down just like playing Crystalline Cat or other large public battle, and I STILL had stuttering.

    That's the film gain for you. Its a stupid effect that hurts a lot of peoples eyes and as proven by tests causes a massive FPS drop and shuttering. It does nothing but make the game look worse and play worse.

    Say what you will, but the Sabotage Kit Module is very useful in slowing down the Nakhul.

    I would like to commend the creators of this mission. I played it yesterday on my ungeared agent and thought it was tough. I played today on my main science character on normal and found it to be just right in difficulty. It goes to show how much all the various toys and gizmos add. The enemies feel smart in the way they ambush and flank from 2 sides. The mark payout is very good on normal. And I feel it would be a nice challenge for my ground specialist on advanced. Kudos.

    The most annoying thing about the Na'kuhl officers would be their doppelgangers.

    As a Sci am having some success using Tachyon Harmonic to drop the officer's shield directly. If that fails electro gravitic field and endothermic the entire bunch.

    Cheers for a fun ground mission. Didn't notice any film grain. Too busy fighting?

    IMO the most annoying thing about that is the other players that invoke the same damn thing making it harder to figure out where to switch your target lol

    It's really a subtle effect that on most systems isn't much of a change.

    MY main annoyance is when I lose LOS because an enemy stepped behind something...

    Boy what a fun queue! Definitely my favorite of the new queues so far. :#

    I'd say that my least would be that battle of Procyon, (or whatever). Not lovin that whole repeating thing, tedious.

    You can also add onto that the KT "endothermic reaction-light" module (can't recall the exact name, only that its great supplemental freezy death.)

    Never had a team wipe. I even played it on elite. Then again.... at least two of the people I played with are nuts who do Elite STFs for fun. :p

    Cold Fusion Flash Mod or Ability. The root seems guarantee not a % to proc. I'll keep my eyes on units I use it on as I'm not sure it always roots.

    Unless you have the best gear team wipes happen. I tried it once on my Delta Recruit....I mean TOSling :) and during certain spawns our entire team got 1 shot wiped. For any Devs reading this please do not take this as a negative or make the mission easier. Its a positive as it means there is a reason to get better gear and play better. Without harder content, better gear is a waste of time. Why upgrade gear if you can walk though everything.
