On the prospect of replacing ship models, I'd like to pose a question to the OP. Regardless of how you feel about the designs, they very clearly have all the aspects expected of their factions, something 99 percent of the other lockbox ships do not have. If you can stomach seeing ESD surrounded by Jem'Hadar, Cardassian, Breen, Krenim, Elachi, Iconian, Nakhul, and Species 8472 ships, then what is it about the JJ-prise that suddenly destroys your immersion?
It's not immersion I'm worried about. The occasional lock box ship (with the possible exception of 8472 and temporal vessels) can be explained away as a prize taken in one battle or another, if you're worried about roleplay explanation.
This is, and people may or may not agree with me, a matter of what does and doesn't belong in a Star Trek game based on whether it is Star Trek or not. A Breen ship, a Tholian ship, the various non-canon custom vessels which some people love and others hate etc., they fit the bill of being Star Trek. Or for the non-canon ones, at they very least they're not taken straight from a film aimed at ridiculing, damaging or outright destroying Star Trek in the eyes of many fans.
There are good and bad things which have happened to Star Trek and this game over the years, but none other than Abrams Trek is this problematic, and seeing the ships from that film brings it up, makes it feel... I don't know, less fun. It's not an immersion issue.
Abrams can be paraphrased from several interviews as never having liked Star Trek, thinking it required too much thought for watching and not being flashy enough, and he also said he never intended his films to appeal to Star Trek fans. That, to me, says that these films are intentionally not Star Trek, and that naming them Star Trek is only meant to hurt the original and its spin-offs in the process.
I've been pretty vocal about my hatred for Star Trek: Enterprise. But I still recognize it as part of Star Trek. Even if I think it is the worst possible aspect of the franchise, I do recognize there are people who like that trainwreck.
If I can get over Enterprise, you can get over the JJ Abrams films.

I SO want to track you down in-game now and start flying circles around you in my NX class

See, the thing with that is I really wouldn't care. I hate the NX-class. I thought it was absolutely dumb that it survived the dumb TRIBBLE that Archer pulled, or that it left without any weapons at all.
But that's what tolerance is all about. I'm okay with your flying the NX-class because that is apparently your thing, and it's not my place to force my opinion on your enjoyment of the game.
Some of these posters on the STO forums with rabid Abrams Derangement Syndrome would do well to reconcile similarly.

It's just not healthy.
Well, it did have torpedoes when it left, they just didn't wait for the phase cannons cause they had to launch earlier than planned. And I don't really see the things Archer did as dumb exactly, more that he was naive, always expecting peaceful encounters and diplomacy, and more than a little ignorant when it came to understanding other cultures. It's been years since I actually watched it (except "Regeneration", which I watch semi-regularly along with "Q-Who?", "Best of Both Worlds", and "First Contact") so I don't remember the details, but I never really thought of him as dumb, and generally liked everyone on the crew ... except Travis, I absolutely could not stand him.
Are you really such an insecure little manbabby that you can't handle the idea of something Star Trek, but not the specific part of Star Trek you like, being in the game?
Additionally, SFD is considering a JJTREK ship giveaway in the near future. Nothing set in stone yet, but stay tuned!
I'd have a Vengeance , intimidating looking ship
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

Look, I respect that people want those ships, I respect that people fly them, but that does not mean that I want to look at them, or even "be in the same room with them"...
Hence why I leave, rather than ask them to leave... I have the problem, it's my problem, so I must go.
Look, I respect that people want scantily clad Orion females in the "seductive" pose, I respect that people play them, but that does not mean that I want to look at them, or even "be in the same room with them"...
I have the problem, it's my problem, so I must live with it.
Anyone who tries asking my Orion for that sort of thing gets in an 'accident' later on, a fatal one...
I own the T'Laru and D4x, but I'm tempted to buy the Heavy Command cruiser to ruin somebody's day just by existing.
I love you, you glorious man.
Honestly though, you guys that leave STFs because "Ah nu. JJTrek."....
Please, grow up. CBS has stated that it's canon.
Without this game, you can't really understand why or how the realities connect.
But hey, in the words of the Rolling Stones, you can't always get what you want.
Dreadnought class. Two times the size, three times the speed. Advanced weaponry. Modified for a minimal crew. Unlike most Federation vessels, it's built solely for combat.
When Starfleet Dental makes points that make actual logical sense and you didn't... That's how you know you did something wrong somewhere.

The best way to handle something you don't like in the game is just ignore it. I know it sounds simple, but it's really true.
For example, I don't like that we can fly Alien ships. Personally.. I hate it.. I think it's stupid that we can fly around in Undine ships, or Voth, Breen, Na'hkul, etc. I think it's ridiculous that a Star Fleet Officer would just fly into ESD in a Chel Grett and expect not to get blown out of the stars.
But, I realize other people like them. They want to fly them and that's fun for them, so I just ignore them. I kind of play this game with Blinders anyway, I have my own game reality in my head and I pretty much filter everything in a way that fits my personal narrative. I for example, like the JJ Films, and the ships. I fly a Vengeance on my main and I love it. Some people hate it.. that's cool too.
Cryptic isn't going to take the time to develop a mod that lets you ignore the ships that they have put into the game, it's just not a realistic request. Especially when it's so much easier for you to just change your own approach and learn to live with people around you doing their own thing. Someone flying by in a Vengeance, D4X, Connie, etc. only effects you if you let it.

In your opinion, which the OP and I do NOT share.
You try that all you like, I'll sit facing the corner with my fingers in my ears watching the paint dry, be far more interesting then that.
