I suspect the AOY expansion was made for one purpose..

and that was to give console players a better starting point than we had when we first started playing STO back in 09. Thats why we PC players are a little underwhelmed, to say the least. We was not the target audiance. This expansion is to help draw in new players and thats it. That explains the JJ era content. Younger people play console systems over PC and vise versa. Younger people are IMO more familiar with JJera prise than with Kirk era also. I don't blame Cryptic or accuse them of anything. I would have done the same but I do wish they would have made some newer content that targeted the Old STO a little more. Oh, well I guess we just have to wait until expansion 4.

P.S. Please forgive the bad grammer and sentence structure. I just woke up and haven't had my coffie yet. Ty

But the console version won't be getting AoY off the bat. Apparently Season 11 or 11.5 will be their starting point.

If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

If you've never played the game before, the biggest complaint about how you have to do all those old missions again, doesn't exist. And then having a time travelling agent storyline underscore all the other stuff fits really well into the metaplot of each story arc.

So yeah, I'd say this expansion is developed with new players in mind moreso than vets.

Your theory has a hole in it. A few, actually, but one really glaring one.

"Younger people play console systems over PC and vise versa. Younger people are IMO more familiar with JJera prise than with Kirk era also."

The vast bulk of the expansion's new content is focused on the TV shows - especially TOS, with a side order of Enterprise. The Kelvin movies show up in one mission, a single minor benefit of the lockbox (the android bridge officer), and a lockbox that most peoplr will get nothing of real value from.

Which indicates to me that "appeal to the kiddies with Abramsstuff" is not in fact the primary goal of the expansion.

Yeah, Mr. Ricossa said in his last interview that AoY won't hit the consoles until next year at the earliest.

It's just an excuse to grind all the old missions and do all the reps and spec points just to get the rewards for your main. In other words more grinding to keep you in the game.

You said you just woke up so your brain may not be up to speed yet. Ps4 has sold more than 40 million units. X box has sold more than 20. News flash. Many ADULTS choose not to have to worry if they have the correct spec's for a game. Or enjoy playing from the couch rather than their mothers basement.

I have a monster computer. It's for an actual job. I prefer to play games in my living room, with the wife and kids.
