Taurus II : stuck at "Collect dropped item"

I have created a 23rd century Captain and started playing through the first mission on Taurus II. After rescuing the hostages from the Taurean natives and returning to the crash site, i had to fight a trio of Klingon attackers. Then i am supposed to 'Collect a dropped item' in the vicinity of the crash site (as shown by the yellow circle on the map). However, there is nothing to collect. No highlighted item, nor anything the tricorder would point to. Since i cannot drop the mission, i am pretty much stuck.

Edit : Well, i just created a new toon and it solved the issue. Certainly not the most practical workaround, though...
