So, the TOS faction is in fact more like an extended alternative tutorial

... because we don't have anything that differs from regular fed toons after those first missions.

May I make a suggestion, even though it is probably too late for that? Have Daniels set up a "temporal operative base" for us that we can go to only as TOS characters, to "get some additional temporal training" or some such. It could basically be nothing more than a small TOS-styled base (a copy of 23rd century ESD with some NPC's replaced, for instance) that we can reach via the Aenigma Nebula.
Remember, STO is nothing but a cosmetics game, where only the rule of cool matters. The game mechanics are intentionally out of balance, don't try to "optimize" anything, as it would just frustrate you.

There is still time, I definitely think there is still more content on the way. I doubt they would spend all the time just making another tutorial with what would then be a rehash of the delta recruit on top of it.

There's bound to be some Temporal missions, probably structured much like the Delta Recruit thing, where they unlock as we level up. I'm a bit disappointed honestly. I was really loving the TOS thing, and was hoping there would be at least enough time to really sink into it and enjoy it. This seemed to pass too fast. But most great things do I guess.

So, you haven't noticed at least 6 more TOS exclusive missions currently on Tribble? They're doing the same thing as happened with LoR - bringing out more missions for testing incrementally.

Read the News. I should be the last person who needs to point out that Tribble is for *testing* and until the launch date is close, nothing is in its finalized state, including all the hook ins for the missions in the TOS storyline.

Yeah it seems to be just a couple of missions then the usual stuff with hunt the x stuff like delta derps. Perhaps the temporal cold war stuff has different bits in it or they stuck new text in the rest of the missions to make it seem like you're old. Meh, was excited but now this just seems like another grind :(

All you are quoting is marketing hype, which gives no specifics about anything. On the other hand, I've played "Tangled Webs", and after that the "Battle of Caleb IV". Want to know how that last one ends? You get declared dead in the 23rd century, and go to the 25th. Daniels makes you a fake identity, so Admiral Quinn and others don't even know you're from the 23rd century. Conveniently, this means no new dialogue had to be written for the NPCs you deal with. And since you're dead in the 23rd century, you can't go back. There's not even an option to enter the 23rd century Sol system.

This has all been obvious for at least a week and a half. The description for the story arc "Agents or Yesterday" starts by saying "Leave the 23rd century...". The description for the 'welcome to ESD' mission in the Klingon arc talks about taking up your station in the 25th century as a "temporal agent", and shows a minimum level to play of 9. Not 59, just 9. They didn't set it at level 9 in the expectation of adding dozens more 23rd century missions for you to play. There has been nothing to show any further 23rd century missions will be added. Nothing but the fantasies of players who wanted to buy into Cryptic's misleading hype. While there may be another 23rd century mission or two added to the "Future Proof" arc, those will be missions open to anyone.

A mildly amusing problem of a different kind. Just started playing the Azura Rescue mission with my Science TOS character. Trying to heal the injured crew member on the ground, but cant. Does the game not recognise me as a Fed Science captain??

I certainly hope there's gonna be more TOS content. The tutorial and 4 missions would seem a little minimalistic.

I suspect that 25th century people will find reasons to visit the 23rd century sector space.

Yeah, I mean is there going to be more? I really hope so. More missions imbetween would be great or even like going into your regular suite of missions in a different want say like fixing things that the Nakuul are TRIBBLE up would be great.

Not missions that are just for TOS chars, but cross-faction story missions that take place in 23c.

They also don't recognize my engineer when I'm trying to repair the warp core on the same mission. ;)

Wait? You're a 23rd Century Engineer? I think we're better off just letting the warp core explode okay? Hey, and the same goes with the "doctor" over there. The patient is already dying, no need to make things worse.

My thoughts are yes it's short for a "faction" but i think they are going to make more missions for end game that way long time players don't have to start a new character to experience some of the expansion. I think they are trying to make this expansion a half way point between delta rising and legacy of Romulus. Which one focused all on end game other focused on starting experience.

This pure speculation, but I also think TOS characters should get some kind a of hyper exp boost if you already have a level 60.

Heh, not likely. What we will get is the Temporal Agent event, which will be a thing like Delta Recruit where new toons get double XP for a month during the event. If all of the TOS ships end up being available to all feds, I don't see the point of making a TOS toon other than to get the TA event rewards for my other toons, just like the DR event was.

    1 ship, 1season of 6 short missions, 4 races.
(And then a pack of pay ships.)

Yeah, hopefully there is gonna be more. I mean look at the Romulan faction.
The Romulan mini faction had free ships for each rank. (And then the option of buying the zen-store/pack of upgraded ships.)
They had missions after you join with one of the other factions.
Thier own 4 seasons with 25-26 missions. (not counting Wasteland and Freedom since they are techically shared with the other factions. But they do have minor things added that are diffrent from the others. So you could say its 6 seasons with 39 missions, but it is techically still the same missions.)

If the current content on tribble is all there is for the TOS faction, then this is less than a mini faction. Then it really is as already said "an alternate extended tutorial".

Anyway, I am willing to believe there is gonna be more next week, after the current missions are finished being tested.

So, I had a shower moment where I started thinking about this and I'm pretty hopeful there's more than just this. First off, we're gonna be temporal agents and the devs have mentioned that some of the ships would not be available to normal feddies. Secondly, this e64564f8ae893469a0beec32e4f25dcb1462809608.png has not been included yet.
Thirdly, I have to hope that Cryptic isn't stupid enough to kill the incentive to want Temporal ships as you level.

Yeah, I happened to think about the older Scotty model too, so there's probably more coming. It's most likely going to be mixed in with the regular 2410 content though, like it was with Delta Rising.

This is pretty disappointing, because I was really thinking of getting the Temporal Special Agent pack, but if I can't use those other TOS ships in a TOS setting, I'm not interested.

Likewise, I'm REALLY not interested in seeing those ships flying around in 2410. As hard as they are working to make everything in Agents of Tomorrow feel immersive and fit within the TOS setting - which I applaud - they'll be blowing the TRIBBLE out of my immersion for the "modern" timeline if we end up having all of these ancient starships from the 2270's flying around all over the place.

Come to think of it, those Temporal ships from the future aren't going to help things either.

It's quite a turn off when I think about it.

My honest opinion after playing all the content thus far, I like the new "Extended tutorial", and yes I use the term because that is exactly what this mini-faction is with one arc of 6 episodes. I thought they were great stories although I was holding out hope for more, lets be real now there won't be any more except endgame. The Scotty image linked likely comes from one of those new endgame missions. New pay ships...yey...*crickets*. I don't see where this can be classified as an expansion. or a seasonal update for that matter, does anyone remember weekly episodes? Because that's just what this is only rolled out at once, so far as has been seen anyway.

End of it all I will get the new pack for the temporal ships and have fun annihilating my enemies in new ships until i grow bored again.

Yeah, I'll probably buy one or two of the new ships, but I can't see blowing 100+ on it. I'm generally against spending that much on a video game all at once anyways.

    Something else occurred to me.

**Spoilers below and throughout, so I'm going to assume you've played through things.**

When you first arrive at ESD after the tutorial, you interact with the Enterprise crew.

McCoy and Scotty both claim something to the effect of "you look familiar" or "have we met before?". Though we technically will meet them again before, when we eventually get around to "Everything Old Is New" and "Night of the Comet" time travel missions, I don't know if I buy that that's the extent of our interaction with TOS Scotty, and maybe McCoy (though that's less likely, because they're not voicing him...that we're aware of).

Also of note: On ESD, Sulu's likeness is definitely that of George Takei. They can't use his likeness without his permission, and they wouldn't be using his likeness without him coming aboard to do some voice over work.

Sulu don't appear in any of the other missions during TOS at all. That suggests that we still have missions where we will interact with him again, most likely during the TOS era - though I suspect we'll see Sulu in the TOS Movie era as well.

Also of note - So far we've only interacted with Chekov in a single mission, and that ends with a "i'll probably see you again sometime." sort of farewell. They wouldn't spend the money on Walter Koenig to just have him in one mission only. Likewise George Takei, assuming they're bringing him in, and also with Chris Doohan as Scotty, though he's probably considerably cheaper (no offense to Chris of course).

That means that not only will we have at least 3, possibly 4 more missions in this expansion (Sulu, Scotty, Chekov and possibly McCoy). Whether we'll see anymore TOS era ones is debatable, but at the same time, our characters are from that time period, so it's logical that they would utilize our knowledge of the TOS era for another mission eventually.

That also doesn't account for Leeta, who they specifically mention as coming back for the AoY expansion. Nor does it account for the battle of Procyon 5 that Chekov hints at.

So my outlook it looking much better now regarding the content that we have yet to see. There's also the possibility that they skipped over a few missions during the TOS era - either to withhold some surprises or maybe they aren't ready yet - so our time there might be as brief as it is at the moment. Lest we forget....the Doomsday device does make an appearance in the trailer, with TOS ships fighting it. Why would that be I wonder?

I would think it more likely that it's the 25th Century Fed with a twist on the episodes and some special time travel missions mixed in. But that's being hopeful right now

Anyone who brings up the 'blows my immersion' argument must be playing with blinders on because if Feds flying around in Tholian and Icoian ships (not to mention the Andorian Lumari ships, or the Vulcan science ships from the 22nd century - some with T5 variants) hasn't ALREADY blown immersion for you - I don't see how a 23rd century ship in a 25th century setting will suddenly make someone say "Hey! That's too far!..."

TLDR: The 'blown immersion' argument ship sailed a LOOOOONG time ago.
