Age: Unknown. Claimed at 85.
Gender: Female
Species: Romulan (Mirror)
Height: 1.83 Meters
Weight: 77 Kilograms
Physical Profile:
Sindari is fair skinned with dark black hair down past her shoulders. Her body is athletic and strong, even by Romulan standards. Her left arm starting at the shoulder is an advanced prosthetic. How she acquired the prosthetic is unknown and the technology seems to be of an unknown source, possibly an expensive custom job. She has multiple scars of varying age and size across her torso, chest, legs, and arms. Though many have been faded and nearly removed by modern regenerating technology, some have been untouched and left to heal and fade naturally. Deeper scans show evidence of a great many bone breaks including ribs, arm and leg bones, hip, and even skull. Most have been healed by expert medical care, but as with the scars, several were left alone. These breaks show signs of being set without modern medical technology and appear to be between 30 and 40 years old. She has two identifying tattoos and several piercings. Examination of her muscle structure and wear on her joints during medical examinations indicate possible training in dance along with years of martial arts and heavy combat exposure. The subject also shows signs of giving birth at least once. An injury to her abdomen that wasn't properly treated approximately 35 years ago has left her since unable to bear children.
Known History and Work Profile:
Very little of Sindari t'Lareth is known prior to her arrival in our universe approximately forty years ago. But due to interviews with those close to her and intelligence reports from field operatives, some information has been gathered. However, due to the nature of the information, none of it can be confirmed. Sindari was born the only child to a wealthy and influential family. The Lareth family was well known on her version of Romulus and many poets, artists, politicians, leaders, and scientists came from their lineage. She lived in a mansion with her parents and assorted maids, housekeepers, and attendants. Her father was a military leader, possibly an Admiral in the Romulan navy. Her mother was a respected and well known doctor, dealing some kind of medical research. Sindari grew up wealthy and privileged. She learned to play musical instruments, was taught ballet, and various languages from a young age. She received private schooling at her home and eventually was accepted into Romulus' top medical academy. Upon graduation, she followed in her mother's footsteps and entered the research and development field. Rumors of multiple medical degrees including psychology, xeno-virology, and neuro chemistry have yet to be confirmed. She was married to a man named Vrius and gave birth to two children while working from home. Her son was named Bajan and her daughter was named Sena. While they were growing up, the Romulan Technocracy went to war with the Terran Empire. The war was fairly short, but exceedingly violent with the death toll reaching billions on both sides. During the war, details of Sindari's exact role are vague and fairly cryptic. One report hints that she was involved in a secret medical research project, possibly a weapon, while another report says she spent much of the war in triage and front line surgery units.
When the war ended, there were many who felt that their government capitulated far too easily. Sindari used her family name and the public image that came with it to question her government's motives and accuse them of secretly making deals with the Terran government without the Romulan public knowing. Many others came out in support, including military leaders and war heroes from the conflict. Retribution was swift. It's unknown whether the Terran or the Romulan governments were responsible for the attack, but the results were the same. In one night, the Lareth family was killed off along with anyone who had spoken publicly against the treaties. According to one report Sindari witnessed the deaths of her parents, children, and husband as they were sitting down for a family dinner. The exact nature and cause of death is unknown. Sindari managed to escape however and was picked up by the surviving rebels. They stole a warbird and proceeded to flee Romulus. Pursued by Romulan warbirds they eventually left their universe and came to ours via unknown means.
After arriving in our galaxy, Starfleet records of her cease for approximately ten years. However, due to the recent alliance with the Klingon Empire and sharing of certain intelligence, some of this can be filled in. It's unclear of how, but Sindari ended up in Rura Penthe shortly after arriving in our universe. Klingon Intelligence either does not know, or is unwilling to divulge the information. During her time in Rura Penthe, Sindari underwent a severe psychological break. (See: Psychological profile) Records from inside Rura Penthe are spotty, but an interview with a former warden indicate Sindari became increasingly violent to survive. She climbed her way to the top of a large prison gang and took control of it before merging it with several others to create a group known as "The Fallen". This gang's influence and power spread until a carefully orchestrated riot allowed Sindari and many of her gang members to escape the prison. The method is still unknown.
After leaving Rura Penthe, all official records cease. According to one report, she returned to her Romulan crew and took command before turning to piracy. It's claimed that she married a Cardassian pirate leader by the name of Etek Krowlek, took over his group, tried to kill him, then liquidated it and used the funding and resourced to build a legitimate Mercenary business. Interviews with Mister Krowlek, current C.E.O. of Consolidated Galactic Concern, confirm very little of this story. While he was given a full pardon for his piracy crimes after helping Starfleet Intelligence unearth a terrorist plot, he refuses to admit anything other than that he was married to Sindari.
This is when official and solid records of Sindari start up again. Her Mercenary group, The Fallen, appeared seemingly from nowhere with an impressive level of training and professionalism. They were small, but the group managed to land a few minor jobs with some minor planetary governments. Soon, their reputation spread and their numbers grew. The list of jobs and accomplishments is massive, spanning some thirty years. Some of the more notable campaigns include fighting alongside the Gorn Hegemony during the Gorn Klingon war, fighting for the Federation during the Federation Klingon war much of which was privateer work, and the Iconian War. The Fallen has seen action against pirates, Orion Slavers, Borg, Tal'Shiar, True Way, Heralds, and many others. During a brief period of employment with the 146th fleet, The Fallen also saw front line action during the Voth conflict.
The Fallen have shown impressive loyalty for a Mercenary outfit and very seldomly take a job for an employer's enemy. They seem to prefer working with Starfleet and much of their combat record is alongside MACO and special operations groups including several classified sorties. During the Iconian war, The Fallen saw heavy combat and suffered significant loss of life during the attack on the Herald Sphere and the final battle over Earth. Sindari herself was injured near fatally several times during boarding actions on her vessel. Much of her participation during the Iconian war was done without payment. For her acts of particular heroism, she was awarded the Starfleet Citation for Conspicuous Gallantry by the 38th fleet.
After the war, Sindari officially retired. She left the Mercenary life behind and with a sponsorship from Captain Neema Perim, applied to Starfleet Academy. She was accepted and began classes with no incident. However, problems quickly emerged. She was often combative and hostile towards teachers or anyone she believed "talked down" to her for being a Cadet. Sindari demanded acknowledgement for her past life, and would often react violently when not given what she believed was due respect. Several fights are recorded on her record, the worst of which left three Cadets in medical with broken bones. Sindari dropped out the Starfleet Academy after three months. At the time of her formal dismissal, she had near flawless grades in tactical, command, and medical courses, some of which she was taking at 4th year level.
Sindari Lareth has since returned to The Fallen. Rumors of a violent and extensive restructuring of leadership within the group have yet to be confirmed, but her vessel has been seen moving with others bearing the transponder codes that identify them as Fallen ships. Her group is growing and according to reports from deep cover operatives in Orion Syndicate groups, she's leaving a trail of bodies as she does so.
Psychological Profile:
It's believed that Sindari t'Lareth started off a very soft spoken and polite individual. She was eloquent and only used formal versions of Rihannsu. Sindari was also very timid and even shy when outside of her comfort zone. However, her time in Rura Penthe changed her. Coupled with the recent violent death of her family, the extreme physical and mental wear from the icy prison world caused a severe mental break. The original Sindari personality was shut away and sheltered while a far more dominant and violence prone personality known as "Sin" emerged. This personality is what allowed her to survive and even thrive in such a hostile environment. Over the decades, it's theorized that the two personalities fought and struggled for control, often times switching back and forth. However, during her recent psychological testing prior to her entry into Starfleet Academy, signs point to a balancing of the two. Whether one personality finally took complete control or the two merged into one new and distinct one is unclear. But she was deemed psychologically stable, albeit temperamental.
Sindari is a proud individial. She's proud of her lineage and what she's done. She acknowledges that she's done bad things in the past, but owns them and believes they make her a stronger person for doing what she believed had to be done. She demands respect in all things and returns respect when it's given. She values strength and honesty above all else and will very rarely tell a lie. She will avoid the question or give half-truths, but a true lie is very rare. She respects those that stand up to others, especially people who stand up to her. She also puts a high value on intelligence and has been known to ignore those she believes aren't intelligent enough to talk to. If she's not given what she thinks is enough respect, she reacts extremely hostile and combative. Sindari will often times misdirect and put on "shows" for people around her in order to give them a false impression of her. She uses it as a kind of social camouflage to hide her true intentions or purposes. This indicates severe self esteem issues. Her habit of boasting and showing far more ego and bravado than is necessary also indicates this. Sindari is extremely protective of those around her she puts value in. Her crew, lovers, and close friends especially. When herself or anyone close to her are threatened, she reacts explosively. Even an implied threat will set her off. Once she's decided someone or something is a threat to herself or her crew, her priority becomes removing the threat by any means.
Sindari is an alcoholic and likely has been for most her career. Though she rarely gets fully intoxicated in public, she's often seen with a flask or a glass in hand. Recreational drug use has been rumored at, but never proven. Several attempts to quit drinking are on record but none of have ended well. Luckily, she is a high functioning alcoholic and it doesn't appear to affect her work. It may be however, a contributing factor to her loud and brash demeanor. She uses a good deal of slang and profanity with little to no regard to rank or external sensibilities. Sindari seems to take delight in pushing others out of their comfort zones and embarrassing them. She's an extreme extrovert and is often friendly enough to be well liked by many. However, her habit of becoming extremely hostile when threatened or talked down to has made her a great many enemies as well. A fact that she doesn't seem to mind.
Summary:
Sindari t'Lareth is a proud and accomplished independent contractor and war hero who, while being extremely rough around the edges, has proven time and time again that she and The Fallen can be trusted and counted on for hard and loyal work. If treated with respect, she can be a powerful ally and a true friend of the Federation and their allies. If not, she would make a deadly adversary.
We might have a winner, yet. lol

T'Karik
Biography:
Born approximately in the year 2357, on a Romulan penal/mining camp location unknown, but near enough to Chaltok IV to supply it with materials used in weapons research. The camp was often called "aenha" or "the destination".
Her father Rogh son of Khohm, a Klingon, was condemned to a life sentence in 2348, charge unknown. Sentenced to hard labor at the "aenha" Romulan penal colony.
Her mother T'ael a Vulcan, was convicted of espionage and crimes against the State, due to her involvement with what was to become the Unification Movement. She was sent to the same penal colony in 2355.
Father:
In the 3270s, details emerged of links between the House of Duras and the Romulan Empire. After the Romulan Empire joined the war against the dominion in 3274, information was obtained showing details of the relationship with House of Duras. Collected details point to this likely explanation for Rogh's incarceration.
As a young man Rogh tried unsuccessfully to become a warrior, his family were farmers and considered to lowly. Because it was a time of peace, few opportunities existed in the klingon empire to rise above his caste. Despite this a noble woman, Bhkel chose him as a mate. A spurned suitor Ghark'n, a minor warrior of the house of Duras, began a feud with Rogh over this in 2345. In 2346 Ghark'n arranged for Bhkel, to be at Khitomer, she was killed in the Romulan attack. He threatened to have Rogh's family killed if he didn't allow himself to be given over to the Romulans. Shortly after he was imprisoned.
Mother: She graduated from the Vulcan Science Academy. She spent her early life as stellar cartographer. She worked near Romulan space and its believed that she became influenced by a grouping of Vulcans that were gathering around Ambassador Spock who advocated a bridging of the gap between the Vulcan and Romulan people, and possible unification. At some point after 2345 she is believed to have joined a group working covertly in Romulan space towards Unification efforts.
What is certain is that by 2355 she had been imprisoned for this activity.
She was tortured and interrogated often regarding their suspicions of Federation involvement in the Unification Movement, and plotting against the Romulan Empire.
She worked along side other prisoners and sometimes the Reman slaves who were the main source of labor at the camp.
She became pregnant, possibly during an episode of pon farr.
Tal Shiar operatives oversaw interrogation efforts and Tal Shiar doctors oversee the birth. They used the child as leverage to break T'ael. Eventually they lost interest. She eventuallydied in the mines.
T'Karik: Her mother died when she was an adolescent. Anecdotal reports indicate she was raised as much by Remen slaves she befriended as her biological father.
Her father who as a farmer learned to tinker with machines earned some protection for T'Karik by helping the the romulan guards who as staff at a far flung colony were often understaffed and underfinaced by the Romulan Military.
She escaped aboard a Ferengi freighter buying ore from the colony in 2368.
In the same year a "klingon halfbreed" matching her description was traded by Orions to a Bajoran freighter "Boryhas" for 2 cases of Aged Bajoran spirits.
By 2370 its known she was living among colonists in the Federation-Cardassian DMZ.
By 2371, intelligence reports indicate she was active in the Maquis resistance and went underground in early 2372, most likely part of Jarro Eilat's cell (former Starfleet officer Commander Jarro), certainly by 2373 she was operating as a member of Jarro's cell.
By the end of 2373, the Dominion backed Cardassian military had successfully destroyed most of the Maquis, Jarro was killed, but the cell was one of a few that continued to function.
By 2374, what remained of the cell was absorbed into the Klingon Defense Forces conducting strategic operations in the DMZ and the nearby Cardassian border territory.
She was given occasional support and minimal supplies. Using small groups of Bird of Prey ships to conduct hit and run raids on Cardassian deep space storage facilities and supply shipping convoys. Tracking supply line patterns she discovered intelligence that lead to the raid on the Monac Shipyard by Klingon forces.
In early 2375 she was captured along with her unit during an attack on a Cardassian supply convoy. She was handed over to the Cardassian Intelligence Bureau.
She was presumed dead.
Shortly after the conclusion of the iconian war, a raid on a True Way compound by combined Bajoran Militia and Starfleet forces from the Trust, discovered her and hundreds of others in stasis. The compound has been an interrogation center for the Cardassian Intelligence Bureau. Following the destruction of Cardassia Prime and dissolution of the Intelligence Bureau, records were deleted, destroyed and lost, including the existence and location of the compound. Because of the a backlog of prisoners they stored them in stasis pods to await interrogation.
The True Way discovered the compound sometime around 2407-8. They were in the process of identifying and inventorying the prisoners for possible intelligence value when the raid occured.
She was handed over to the kdf for debriefing.
Currently she is a provisional member of the KDF, inactive status.
She is also an honorary member of the 5th Reman Miners Militia. A leader in the Militia, Ojbaru worked in the mines with T'Karik.
She is currently assigned by Reman Militia forces to assist The Trust with True Way and Tal Shiar counter-operations.
She functions as an informal tie between elements of the Reman, Romulan Republic and Bajoran Militia forces and The Trust.
Her personal disposition is brooding and intelligent.
She is a capable officer, and handles herself well in high risk situations.
She however should be watched over and kept in bounds as years of being a prisoner and maquis rebel has made their mark on her. While she is disciplined she is also insolent and is not afraid to clash with the command structure of her unit. She is used to beung involved in decision making and taking orders is a decision she makes on a case by case basis. Her sympathies in matters of an "oppressed" group of people is clear. In delecate diplomatic situations pay particular attention to her conduct and assignments.
She has a reputation from her time in the KDF as being notable and disciplined in combat. Repeated volunteering for dangerous assignments. Being able to organize and sustain crew/unit loyalty. But her character off duty has been categorized by one Klingon general as "stormy, frigid' sharp like the blistering winds of breen or noxious, fiery and foul... a demon women who could easily call Nukara Prime her home."
Her mixed biology of Klingon and Vulcan backrounds contribute to a robust constitution, increased physical strength and endurance. She doesn't appear to gave inherited any overt telepathic abilities.
However problems with genetic resquencing during conception and pregnancy resulted in chronic gastro-intestinal problems, an difficulty in digesting different kinds of food resulting in sever cramps and nausea. She was recommended a restricted diet by Starfleet Medical.
She also has a blood disorder caused by the incomplete resequencing that causes bouts inflamation and fatigue. Seems to correlate with long extended periods of extreme physical exertion, or intense stress.
She has difficulty maintining personal relationships or her temper in conflicts that occur off duty.
Due to the trauma of her time in the mines, and as a "child soldier" for the maquis, regular counseling sessions are recommended.
Among the ex-slaves and troops that make up the 5th Reman Miners Militia, she is admired and nicknamed "O'gret" - a Reman name for a small burrowing parasite that when left undiscovered would cause sever rashes and occassionaly kill the Romulan prison guards.
She was also given the name "hawk" or "little hawk" by Jarro Eilet, comparing her supposedly to a Baneriam Hawk because of her prominent nose and sharp features as well as her intense stare and focus. Some ex maquis still call her this and it is sometimes used by members of the Bajoran Militia who know her.
The Tal'Diann extends our gratitude to all who took part in the celebration, whether here in the STO Romulan forum or in-game. We were unfortunately unable to supply participants with a cute little Nanov pet, but we hope our games/contests and prizes helped to ameliorate the lack of an official event this year, and we hope there will be an official event next year. If not, look for our announcement of our own Republic Day event again at that time.
A report on the event can be found here.
Once again, our thanks. Long live the Republic!
