Promotion but no free ship.....?

Just made Commander 20 and was sent to the shipyard to get my new free ship. I selected one that was available for free on my promotion, selected "purchase", got the "Are you sure?" prompt, clicked on it, and...... NOTHING! Now it's saying my Promotion Mission is complete, and when I go back to select my ship it says I have to pay full price for it. I busted my tail for this promotion, and I am not a happy camper! Any suggestions? Thanx.

    If you do temporal ambassador, you can get the support cruiser as a mission reward.
    A lot better ship than what is at the shipyard at lvl 20

      Are you sure it's not available from your ship selection screen (which is a seperate thing from the ship requisitions screen)?

      You have to visit the admiral to turn in the promotion mission to get the ship token.

      Often the ship will be added as a box in your inventory. If so, open it and enjoy your ship.

      "Race" (Fed, KDF, or Romulan), ship bought, and point in storyline, please...

      Rommies especially have... issues... buying their ship before it's time.I think during one major XP event I was practically level 30 before I could hit up the shipyard for my "token" ship...
      Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

      Can someone please help. Noob here and have just started playing sto on ps4. Love it so far and things seem fairly simple to grasp. Last night, I complete a mission and was greeted with a message saying, You've been promoted to Lt commander (comes with free ship) Talk to Admiral so&so then proceed to shipyard. I speak to the Admiral who says congratulations but I didn't receive any token. I proceed to the ship yard but all I see are ships that cost $500 or more. There was a ps4 error that logged my out just before I made it back to space dock. Anyway.. Ive checked inventory and bank and cant see anything that resembles a token or a ship. Very frustrating as I'm now facing tougher enemies with a dinky little ship.
      any help would be appreciated

      You don't get a token in inventory.

      When you go to the ship & shuttle requisitions person you want to set the selection to Lt. Commander. Then you should see that the first few ships list a cost at the bottom right of "1" AND that you have "1" -- that's the token.

      Other ships in the list will show a price like 500 zen = $5, but those first few ships should be free for your token.

      So, in short the process is this:
      • Level up in rank (eg, from Lt to Lt CDR)
      • Return and speak to your faction admiral (eg, Admiral Quinn at Earth Spacedock)
      • Visit your Ship Requisitions officer (eg, Lt Laurel at Earth Spacedock)
      • Select the relevant ship at your level (eg Akira/Heavy Cruiser/Olympic classes at the Lt CDR level)
      • Go to the Ship Selector Officer (near Lt Laurel) to activate the new ship as your current playable ship.
      • Return to going boldly and blowing your enemies out of the stars.

      Some quirks:
      • The 'Ship' once selected can be moved into your Inventory before becoming activated - double click on the icon "box" before going to the ship selector NPC;
      • If your Inventory is full, the ship box might be in your Overflow bag - empty some space in the INV before double clicking on the box again;
      • Sometimes the Admiral doesnt hand over the token correctly - just go back and talk to him again and it corrects it (on ESD, you have to actually walk out of his office for it to reset - you dont have to go far, eg just to the staircase and come back).

      Another quirk, for KDF:

      * You must complete the episode The House Always Wins before you'll get any ship tokens. If you accepted a promotion before completing this, try going back to J'mpok and talking to him again.

      Yet we complain when people start a new thread instead of searching for an active thread on the same issue. Another key problem: accounts with very low post counts cannot start new threads anyway, so at least he necroed a relatively recent thread that was topical!

      There is a similar quirk for the Romulan faction as well - the mission name escapes me but it you can only select a new ship once you've chosen sides (dont want to give too many spoilers! :))
