I really like this game, but my God. Every day something is TRIBBLE up. Make me realize how well another MMO has their stuff together.
Not their fault directly - DDoS attack. Although they don't seem to have put anything in place to counter it either (especially considering the loser who is doing it was boasting about doing so), so...
Last time my company server had an attack I let him attack, all the time he was attacking gave me and the feds all the information that was needed, given he was a TRIBBLE and was generating it all from his own setup not some super spread virus thing....oh wait. This is the first attack on the new server stuff. I cannot believe they were not waiting for this. Guy is toast now.
Yeah, that doesn't exactly inspire confidence either. But, yeah, I saw that later. Thanks for letting me know. Any reason why this 'god' has such a happy for Star Trek Online?
@ardenwolfe He doesn't. He's gunning for Neverwinter. STO just happens to be in the same server farm so... we're just in the blast radius.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Why wouldn't he? The hateful little troll literally gets to decide when thousands of people can and can't play their favourite game.
What power! I occasionally have to resort to entertainment plan B.
One of these days that's going to be voodoo and that's really not going to end well for all concerned (particularly when I reach the point of "hmmm, what else can I do with this?")

Until a certain hacker group who already warned him gets wind of this and shut him down.

Looks like there was some sort of unpopular change to NW on the Xbox and now some of the players are encouraging him to burn the servers down while calling him a hero. That's uh...special...I guess.
Still amazed at the folks who think a small-time company like Cryptic can prevent DDoS attacks when the freaking Pentagon gets successfully hit about twice a year.

So why does the launcher claim "The website is experiencing technical difficulties. Normal game play is not affected." when it is actually the other way round?

I think we had this conversation before, but...other MMO's aren't knocked down this often, even though they get attacked too. So, why cite the Pentagon when we can just cite other MMO's that are don't suffer as badly when they are attacked? Like you pointed out last time, it has something to do with having multiple server clusters, right?

What surprises me is that people are still failing to understand a DDOS is nigh-impossible to defend against.

Law sucks, guy attacks and the law says you have to ask him nicely to stop 200 times before you can do anything about it....
there are way to reduce attacks like these.
