selling duty officers

I am getting into the duty officer system again after being gone for many years. When I left, the Doff system was just introduced. I like it but would like to buy and sell officers on the exchange. When I go back to my alts made years ago, every one of their duty officers is bound to them. Not sure if I got most in packs and that's the reason I can't move them between characters in the bank or sell them on the exchange. I went through every alt and every Doff is bound.

My current character has about 100 Doffs and I just bout 100 more slots. I get Doffs from requisitions all the time and there's nothing special about them. I had a bright idea to go onto the exchange and buy the "missing' one I need to do missions that come up. They seem reasonably expensive to buy common Doffs', starting at 37K. So I thought I would sell some that have redundant skills. How do you sell Doffs on the exchange? I go to a simple common Doff I probably got from a requisition this week and try to drag them to both thy inventory or the sell bar of the exchange. They don't sow they are bound but won't move from the roster list. I'd appreciate your advice on selling common Doffs. Thanks

There a bound to character doffs and there are ones which aren’t bound. Usually when you slot a doff to an active duty even once it becomes character bound permanently and you loose the ability to mail, sell or trade it.

The only thing you can do with common bound doffs is use them for fleet projects (which is why the commons are so expensive) which give you fleet credits.

The doffs you get from lt ferra and as level up rewards are bound on pick up. The ones from recruitment missons in space and the personnel officer, as well as packs from the exchange, and c store are not.

You also get a pack of hologram crafting doffs with the crafting system either 13 or 18 something like that. They can't be used for anything but crafting. Of course they are bound as well.

Look at the doff you are trying to sell, if it has a green padlock on it is bound. Ones that are not can be dragged to the exchange.

Doffs can not be moved by bank, to move them between characters on your account you have to use a mail terminal.

Cool, thanks. I will try the mail and exchange for the unbound ones.

    Just an FYI...

Some Doffs are more expensive than others because of a popular space or ground trait or they are desirable for the crafting system.. The price difference of becomes more dramatic when looking at higher quality Doffs. For example (just making up numbers) a very rare Doctor may have a selling price of 500k EC on the Exchange, but a very rare Technician may sell for 3 million EC.

My advice to get some free rare and especially very Doffs is to do the Colonization mission chain in various clusters / nebulae. The chain consists of 7 different mission; the last one is call Renown and it will reward you with a specific rare Doff and it unlocks the Support Colonization (Federation) or Support Expansion (KDF) mission. The Support missions will reward you with a normal (white) refugee when it is successful. If the mission is completed with critical success, then you also get a specific very rare (purple) Doff. The Support missions are repeatable so that you can have multiple copies of the same purple Doff. I tend to get at least 3 copies of each.

Below is a link for Colonization Chain Missions:

Below are links for the Support missions which also tells the Exploration Zone where the chain missions are located. Each zone provides a specific rare / very rare Doff.

Note that the Support missions can be very aggravating to do because everything is based on chance. For example, despite assigning the very best purple Doffs to maximize critical chance success (I think it was at least 25%; it has been a long time...) on one specific toon, it took over 30 tries before I got my 1st critical success for a very rare Technician. Thankfully, the next 4 very rare Technicians were easier to get (between 10 - 20 attempts each).

Not sure if those missions were bugged; because it should not have taken over 30 attempts to get my 1st very rare Technician if my critical success rate is at least 25%. It's been about 18 months since the last time I did any Support missions with that toon.

There's a Junior Officer Weekend coming up (January 7th). You will get a free very rare duty officer (on every toon) and have the chance to earn more by scanning particles on the Starfleet Academy grounds. So... perfect timing! ;-D

And while the event is active you will earn 50% more CXP on all your duty officer assignments.
