Ok, I've got a second new ship but after kitting it out I haven't got my original console team or away team present. So how do I transfer them to the new ship?
You have to re-equip everything the same as you did with your first ship.
You can only fly 1 ship at a time so you just take the consoles out of the first ship and place them in the second.
After you ready the starship you ready the BO's the same as you did before. They are permanently assigned to 1 ship and 1 ship only.
However, you'll find that if you end up with two ships you fly regularly (I alternate between a T5-U Nihydron and an Arbiter) that the BO seat assignments will persist as you swap between ships. For a new ship, though, it's as @irodu said--you have to do the initial assignment because the seats will be empty.
After you select the new ship, put all your weapons and consoles on the ship. Go under the Stations tab, re-assign your crew and set up all their abilities. Once you do that, I recommend you set up your tray the way you like it and save the loadout. You can then freely switch between ship #1 and ship #2 all you want and everyone will be in place the way you want them.
The very first time though, you have to set everything up yourself.
Also, just to be sure, make sure you have your loadout saved on your primary ship before you move the stuff off it. Re-selecting that loadout will put everything back if anything is missing when you switch back to that ship.
it is annoying sometimes when you take a ship out and forget about assigning boffs or sometimes you are eager to give your new ship a quick test flight and have to faff about with boffs before you start, just a pity that a random set of boffs could not be slotted into eligible slots until the player choses to select the boffs himself.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
The capability to Transfer to a new Ship only works if you have never fussed with any Items on that new Ship.
I used it many times to move to a new Science Ship to level that up. Some things may be left behind or not filled in if the Weapons Slots/ Console Slots/Item Slots do not match exactly but it is much easier to do that with this capability. Be sure not to Dismiss the old Ship before verifying if there is nothing left on it.
Bridge Officers are not included and you must set them up. Tray Slots and Autofire settings do not either. The advice given above about saving your layout after all is set up is crucial. Also do that in orbit and not on the Ground or Sector Space.
When you transfer back to a Ship that you previously set up, you are done so in the manner of the last used Loadout.
Also be aware that when you first Transfer to a new Ship when you Ready it with that Transfer capability turned on, you will have a ton of TRIBBLE Common items in your Inventory that you will need to dispose of. Any non-Common items that were part of the new Ship will not be removed like the Common stuff, so you may have also left an Item behind on your old Ship that could not fit on the new.

Managed to get my BOFFS assigned corectly thanks ! admrenlarreck, how do you turn on that feature?
Before I tell you how to turn it on I first want to tell you that by using this you will replace the higher mark/quality equipment with the lower mark/quality from the previous ship. This will continue to happen until you turn it back off. Of course, it only matters while leveling up, but I wanted to let you know.
As for how to turn it on, go to the options menu by pressing ESC (default key), or clicking on the gear icon by the mini map. A menu will open for rearrange hub options change character etc. Click on options, first tab there is basic. Toward the top of that tab is Move gear to new ship or something like that, click on ON next to it, then apply and then ok.
I am not sure if it does the Boffs as well, also it will only apply to the first time you ready the ship and only if you do not change any thing on the new ship. I can't help you figure out any more about the move ship feature, as I have only looked at it once and that was to make sure it was turned off when it was added in to the game.
If you do need help with anything else, send me a mail at renlarreck@ren_larreck in game. I'll help you out as much as I can, and if I don't know the answers I know people who will.
I discussed what it will and will not do earlier in this thread. This is probably not going to be a great option if you are leveling up and moving to a higher Tiered Ship UNLESS you are using Featured Episode Rewards that will allow free upgrades up to Mk XII if you obtained them when it actually was a Featured Episode and you were Level 10 to below 50.
It is nice to use if you are moving between Tier 5, 5U, or 6 Ships in any combination.

Only the ship loadouts are transferred with that feature on, and only if you didn't mess with it before activating it, as stated above. You will need to manually assign BOFFs and the autofire on weapons. You'll also probably need to rearrange the power tray to the way you like it as well.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
