The new Crimson driver from AMD doesn't work with STO as cryptic haven't sorted it out. You can use safe mode to log in, then up most of your settings except AA and Bloom.

If it is Crimson then you'll need to rollback to driver 15.7 (I think it is) or play in safe mode until Cryptic sort it out.

Once i modified the game to run in Dx9, full screen, i had no problem with crimson, it seems that DX11 make it crash

I don't think it's DX11, like I said, (and others have mentioned on other sites relating to the STO issue) if you put it into safe mode and up all settings, it'll work as long as bloom and AA aren't used.

But as mentioned if you go into safe mode and turn it to DX9 that will also work (I forgot to mention it, but that i how I played for a while until reverting to a previous driver).

Safe mode revert the game to Dx9, from what i know :)

I don't think it did for me, because I went into safe mode, turned all options on 1 by 1, and when I tried to turn AA on, that is when my game crash, I then restarted it (in safe mode) and turned it to DX9, then I was able to max all settings including AA.

Also I think 1 of the links in the link I supplied mentioned people doing the same (safemode, DX11, upping each setting 1 by1 etc). Also the game did work for me in DX11 because I considered playing without anti aliasing (but couldn't put up with it lol)

What you say does make sense, (being as DX9 could be seen as a base/ the safest) but safe mode didn't activate DX9 for me. :)

No isssues at all with my AMD based system. Perhaps you upgrded to Win10 and have that driver conflict thing happening. One more reason Win10 upgrade can stick it where the sun doesn't shine

Crimson drivers run fine for me too.. use them on my laptop with a Radeon Card and they work fine.

The problem is something in video settings, best to start the game in safe mode, then set all of your graphics options to the absolute minimum. See if the game starts using those settings. If it does start, then increase your video settings one setting at a time until you find the cause. Up your resolution only, and restart, just do one thing at a time until you track down the problem.

I can tell you firsthand though, that the current revision of Crimson Drives are compatible with STO. My laptop only runs the game on Medium, so likely there is a setting that I'm not using that causes the issue.

I think I explained it in the link I provided (well it's somewhere lol, commented on about 3 threads with this issue)

Basically, I can start in safe mode, up all my setting but not AA, when I turn that to 2 or higher the game will instantly crash. I'm not doubting there's people without the problem, but there is a lot of people with the problem that is only happening with the new crimson driver.

It's a shame I had to roll back as STO is the only game I have which is causing this issue. I could have kept Crimson, but that meant I would have to play without AA or play in DX9, seeing as I'm mainly only playing STO ATM I decided to roll back :)

Also I'm not using windows 10.
