i hit 50 today so i got some t6 warbirds. i tried putting cannons on it but i move so fast that they are almost useless in less i go to a full stop.i am lucky if i get two shots off before i fly past my target.so i just put beams on it that why i do not have to worry about it.how do you guys that use cannons manage to be effective?

The jackhammer was popular. Fly in, trade paint, throw it in reverse for a bit, repeat.
Turreting is another option. Unlike BFAW you do have to turn to keep your target in your arcs. Keep evasive maneuvers handy for avoiding warp core breeches.
This way I can easily slow down, even go reverse (better than doing a full stop, though you can't reverse for long since it drains energy). And when I need to run, I speed up again, obviously. It requires more maneuvering.
If you got a Pilot Warbird, you also can use the pilot maneuvers to rapidly move back. (But it's the least cool looking maneuver. rolling to the left or right is much more fun.)
Well, depends on what warbird you got. If it's a cruiser-like warbird, like a D'khellra or a Kara, don't even think of using (dual) cannons. Most (all?) warbirds can mount dual weapons, but not all warbirds are suited to use them. On a lighter warbird like a Jhu'ael or Faeht, the above suggestions can apply.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
