Why is there numbers(#4534) beside any new username I create?

I made a new account but it has #1456 beside the account name, why is that?

I think it has to do with the fact that 1455 people before you made use of that user name.

All fun aside, it has to do with being a unique number. Your name is saved as an object and the number has to do with the object identification within the game.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

That was me on a newly made account. As you see there are numbers beside his name. There is no way 2228 ppl have that stupid username.I really hope they get rid of those numbers.

I figured you would understand that the remark about X number of people with said username was a joke, but alas.
The number is the number given to the object which identifies your account and username in arc and by extension in the game.
So it is not directly related to the username itself.

    Who are you?
    -The new Number 2.
    Who is Number 1?
    -You are Number 6.

    I AM NOT A NUMBER! I'M A FREE MAN!

I don't care what the header says, I am not now, nor have I ever been, nor will I ever be, an "ARC user".

Doh! I fell for it, haha.Good one. Well, the name may not be related to my username, but from what I`ve seen, it does show up on the chat bar in Sto, so anyone who is proud to have a cool username like starbase28 suddenly doesnt look so cool when #2245 shows up after said username.
I admit, Riker@shadowbatt doesnt look that great, but Data@starbase28 looks amazing in chat.Which Id thought of a cool name like that before the dumb # update.

I think people should use the numbering system to their advantage.

IF it bothers you that much then go to options (ingame) > chat > show account names.
Turn the latter off and you have a nice clean chat.

Read that Prisoner exchange as follows instead:

    Who are you?
    The new Number 2.
    Who is Number 1?
    You are, Number 6.

See how a simple comma changes the entire exchange and reflects how the Series actually ended.

And here I thought a few people were just using their Blizzard battletags as usernames for whatever reason.

somename#1234 is pretty much exactly what battletags look like.

    Reason why?

it because of that V'yger from Star trek's first motion movie wanted everyone with numbers. so now we speak binary.
