Near as I can tell and what information I have gathered, New York City is still around in the 24th century. From what I have read the Ferengi make a pilgrimage there to Wall Street, and Harry Kim trained at the Julliard Youth Symphony (source Memory Alpha). For whatever reason, the various series never really showed NYC in a futuristic setting. They either showed New York from the past or in an alternate reality. That also seems to be the case of most, if not all of the East Coast cities. Maybe Gene Roddenberry had a problem with the East Coast, who knows?
My questions about it is if it does exist in the Federation, what would you think New York looks like? What cities you believe survived or perished in the Third World War? And from a gaming standpoint, is there some legalities involved that would prevent the developers from making a Federation era New York, or Chicago or any other East Coast City?
P.S, I just remembered there was a city in Florida that was shown in Enterprise, at the moment I thought it was Tallahassee but I cannot be sure right now.
"There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life." - Ten Bears (Will Sampson)

A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch."
"We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
And then rebuilt shortly thereafter. Therefore, a futuristic New York City would most likely be unrecognizable. Still wonder how the Golden Gate Bridge survived...

Why are you not rejoicing?
True. But if you look at WW II many German cities were reduced to a pile of rubble. But every single one was rebuild and still exists today. And so does Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

@artan42 Nobody cares about ID
Once again, the non-canon production of Axanar depicts large colony cities of the UFP, although not Earth bound. But I'd like to have glimpsed into the civil structures of life in Star Trek a bit more but I figure the budget never was sufficient for that kind of thing. But I'd like to know how infrastructure works, for example. Do shuttles and transporters substitute for ground vehicles, what do fire brigade shuttles look like, how do civilian shuttles and starships look like in the first place?

Well I think you'll find the film Star Trek: Into Darkness answers your question

But I don't like the visuals JJ choose, so I'm not statisfied with how they do things (like brewery machine rooms which are clearly not present outside of those films). I know what you are saying, but for the purpose of this thread those films don't count. That's the luxury of putting it into an alternate reality.

Oh I despised the brewery room but I still liked it better than the harsh chrome of the TMP engine room, besides it was removed for ID and replaced with a big laser thing.
Also all of the major cities likely pre-date the attack on the Kelvin so that goes for all the civilian infrastructure and whatnot.
They also don't really clash horribly with the brief glimpses of Earth cities (San Fran and Paris) we see in the TOS films and TNG.

As far as landmarks, the Brandenburg Gate survived WW2, although it was heavily damaged, virtually inaccessible during the Cold War years, and not repaired/restored until 2000-2002. For those of you who know how heavily Berlin was devastated, that's saying something.
