What is the relationship between the Caitians and the Eeiauoans/Sivaoans?

I'm rather new to the game, so maybe this is addressed somewhere in game, but the Caitians are similar to another race introduced in a Star Trek book. In Uhura's Song the Eeiauoans and Sivaoans (cousin races), bipedal felenoid races are introduced. I was wondering if there is any relationship between the Caitians in STO and the Eeiauoans or Sivaoans (more likely the Eeiauoans, since they were city dwellers and had technology, which the nomadic Sivaoans didn't) from Uhura's Song.

When did that change? I could have sworn that the books were at one point considered canonical, especially if they had the Paramount logo...

The logo simply designated the book as officially licensed merchandise. Canonicity is, frankly, another matter entirely.
Oh man, I'd say long ago you pulled that conclusion out of your TRIBBLE and decided it was truth.

Tone it down there, buddy. There is no need to start stoking a Rude Fire here. It was a simple misunderstanding on the part of the OP.

Only in a very selective sense. The STO devs decide what they do and don't want to use, and it has to be specifically acknowledged in game to be STO canon.

Nothing stopping you from doing something in the Foundry, of course, but the Eeiauoans and Sivaoans aren't in STO that I've ever seen.

The rule of thumb is, anything that was directly published(italicized) by CBS/Paramount, I.E., television shows and cinematic releases, are canon. Licensed(italicized) materials, incl STO, are not.

Alex Kurtzman will have the magic stick determining whats canon for the future, or shall i say our future.
Only time will tell if thats a good thing.
