i will join a fleet action or something on the map and maybe two min in the game crashes, sometimes i can get back in if the match hasn't finished, but i joined to play and turn ships into little or large fireballs and the like.

Not just you. A lot of people have it. Loading screen crash seems the most dominant one amongst my in game friends.... and me.
After the 5th crash it makes you turn off the game and the anoyance is gone.

However, like so many others, since Win10 launched, I'm having loading screen crashes and the rare crash in Tholian RA and Fleet Alert. Prior, on Win 7, I had maybe 5 crashes in as many years.
never had any problems doing just missions or just loading screens, its when the shooting is getting good, some times 2 min in or halfway into the game
My game almost never crashes now.
Sounds like driver issues, possibly Win10 compatibility issues, possibly something else.
im almost sure is the nvidia geforce driver, but it only happens with sto.
Most likely, since Cryptic cannot seem to keep up to date with Nvidia driver updates, when it comes to optimization capabilities.
The game client, is just poorly optimized for a lot of peoples hardware/OS's.
Praetor of the -RTS- Romulan Tal Shiar fleet!
Just curious.. ATI? or NVidia?
Never fear... you are not alone and it has nothing to do with your computer or software. It is a deficient software construction problem related to uploading and downloading way too much data for the internet and possibly STO's servers to handle.
I have friends in STO with absolutely WICKED gaming computers and they also DC regularly. Only solution is to tone down programming and graphics so that folks like us don't keep getting frustrated. I have been enduring this since Mar 2012...and believe I may have reached my capacity of tolerance. As someone whom worked in Quality Control for almost 40 years, I can only say I am seriously disappointed and somewhat astonished. Does no one take pride in their work anymore...?
I have been defending the Devs and GMs to in game players since I started as I understand the complexities of what is going on here and the task of making it all work. That only goes so far tho...not for 3 yrs.
DCs happen when internet can't handle the amount of data being uploaded and downloaded at the same time. End result is DCs. Only realistic fix is toning down the amount of info transferred during game play. I know the UK fellow whom posted earlier may be surprised at this but he needs to realize this is happening primarily, if not solely in N America...where most do only as much as they absolutely have to...not what is actually needed...and we allow cheezy providers whom are not used to taking pride in their work /product.
Is sad... I was brought up to take pride in what I do and to do my best...realized by the time I entered public school system, this was not a commonly taught /held attitude in Canada.
