Not just you. A lot of people have it. Loading screen crash seems the most dominant one amongst my in game friends.... and me.

After the 5th crash it makes you turn off the game and the anoyance is gone.

Yes, ever since the Jupiter Class release patch, I have had nothing but crashes everytime I try to play a STF. I haven't had any problem before the patch and I haven't changed any system hardware or game settings.

In addition, I run games like BF4 and GTA 5 flawlessly. I have reinstalled STO and Arc 4 times over and still the same problem. This has to be an issue on their end.

I don't suffer many dc's or SNR's, maybe 1 a week if that. I'm bemused as to how so many people in the US (I'm in the UK) have issues. Considering the distance, you'd think I'd notice more SNR's and Dc's than those in the US, so this leads me to believe that it's US ISP's that are the issue not the people's assumption that it's Cryptic's servers. I've seen alot of people state they've got 50+Mbs and can't stay connected. I've only got 14.5Mbs and it's virtually flawless!

However, like so many others, since Win10 launched, I'm having loading screen crashes and the rare crash in Tholian RA and Fleet Alert. Prior, on Win 7, I had maybe 5 crashes in as many years.

it happens to me maybe 3-6 times a day depending on what im doing, normally trying to play fleet actions or deep space encounters, when the game crashes it asks me if i want to do something to make sure all the files are still ok, 99% of the time there was nothing wrong. I can run SC2 and D3 ..... at min settings, without any problems.

never had any problems doing just missions or just loading screens, its when the shooting is getting good, some times 2 min in or halfway into the game

I used to crash quite often, two or three years ago.
My game almost never crashes now.
Sounds like driver issues, possibly Win10 compatibility issues, possibly something else.

Most likely, since Cryptic cannot seem to keep up to date with Nvidia driver updates, when it comes to optimization capabilities.

The game client, is just poorly optimized for a lot of peoples hardware/OS's.

I used to have a lot of lag/crash problems. Since I have 100 Mbps and a replacement graphics card (Nvidia 580m) I have had no problems for a year. My computer is from 2011 and still runs windows 7. I did have a problem logging in through Arc for a long time and had to bypass Arc and load the Cryptic launcher directly. The past month it hasn't bee an issue. I live in the U.S. I hope when I get a new computer I don't have issues. I feel badly for those having issues and hope Cryptic finds a solution soon. I consider myself very lucky.

Does it just drop you to the desktop with no error message or anything?

Pretty much any time there's a new video driver release, I wind up having to put "-d3d11Enable 0" in the launcher's commandline options just to get the game to start. Takes a good week or so before it's safe to take it out.

Never fear... you are not alone and it has nothing to do with your computer or software. It is a deficient software construction problem related to uploading and downloading way too much data for the internet and possibly STO's servers to handle.
I have friends in STO with absolutely WICKED gaming computers and they also DC regularly. Only solution is to tone down programming and graphics so that folks like us don't keep getting frustrated. I have been enduring this since Mar 2012...and believe I may have reached my capacity of tolerance. As someone whom worked in Quality Control for almost 40 years, I can only say I am seriously disappointed and somewhat astonished. Does no one take pride in their work anymore...?
I have been defending the Devs and GMs to in game players since I started as I understand the complexities of what is going on here and the task of making it all work. That only goes so far tho...not for 3 yrs.

Just wanted to add... I see folks desperate attempts to try fog out this DC problem...and all I can say is that this has nothing to do with new drivers, windows 10 or anything else like that.
DCs happen when internet can't handle the amount of data being uploaded and downloaded at the same time. End result is DCs. Only realistic fix is toning down the amount of info transferred during game play. I know the UK fellow whom posted earlier may be surprised at this but he needs to realize this is happening primarily, if not solely in N America...where most do only as much as they absolutely have to...not what is actually needed...and we allow cheezy providers whom are not used to taking pride in their work /product.
Is sad... I was brought up to take pride in what I do and to do my best...realized by the time I entered public school system, this was not a commonly taught /held attitude in Canada.
