Which T6 Science or Science heavy Federation ship should I get today with the 20% Discount?

Hey All,

Like the title says please let me know your opinion on a ship or ships you would recommend for my Science Character and why I should consider them. I am considering the Scryer or the new Jupiter Carrier both are 2400 Zen today. I will be using Gravity Well as my main science power and both these ships can use a Commander Science ability so any other opinions on these or other ships.

Thanks your your advice and recommendations in advance!

    Scryer Intel Science Vessel
DPS-Bronze, DPS-Silver, DPS-Gold, etc. are FAKE! They were created by an outvoted minority who destroyed the original DPS channels!

Tactical Team sucked, once upon a time. I got it buffed. Don't think for a minute that Cryptic ignores forum feedback.

I like the scryer as well. The trait is great for any exotic damage build and the ship is an amazing science ship because it's the only science ship that can use all intel powers.

I'd get the Scryer myself. I got it as part of the Ops back after Delta Rising and I haven't seen another ship that comes close to it except for the Annorax-which is well beyond my funds.

Unless you really enjoy Carriers already, I would not recommend investing into a Carrier.

Scryer is an excellent choice - Science and Intel abilities have excellent synergy, you can combine your Gravity Well with an Ionic Turbelence or support your torpedoes with Kinetic Magnet, and Override Subsystem is basically the must-have intel power on any ship, including science vessels.
Note that while the Scryer can use cannons, it's not really a great idea. Your main damage should not come from energy weapons, to utilize your science abilities you need Aux power. Cannon Rapid Fire, Cannon Scatter Volley, BFAW or Surgical Strikes are all not really skills for a Science Vessel, Torpedo Spread tends to be more useful.

If you're not fond of the looks (and don't underestimate the importance of that), the Pathfinder gives you access to plenty of customization options and is also a pretty effective Science Vessel. You have only two Intel slots on that ship, but that is still enough for Override Subsystem Safeties and Ionic Turbulence, for example.

Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.

I agree that the Scryer is the better of the two ships I listed with a lot of potential for Science and Intelligence powers. The built in cloak, secondary deflector, full Commander and Lieu Commander science boff seats, Sensor analysis, 5 Science consoles and the Intelligence Active sensor array makes for a lot of science potential.

I also do not mind the look as the type 7 skin makes the ship look more traditional star fleet but it is unique enough to stand out as a different kind of science ship. I also have the Phantom and the Eclipse so if I wanted I could mix it up with different nacelles.

The Trait is a great science trait to have when using Tactical or Intel Bridge Officer Abilitys: • +7.5% Exotic Damage for 15 sec (Stacks up to 3 times) • +7.5% Shield Heals for 15 sec (Stacks up to 3 times) and with a recent update the Sensor Probe Swarm console now has a passive +Exotic Damage bonus. I will always be using tactical abilities so this trait could be up most of the time.

Finally this will be a awesome science Admiralty Card for my three Federation characters. We all could use more science ship cards for our Admiralty system.

If anyone else has any other opinions on the Scryer, Jupiter or any other Federation Science or Science heavy ship I welcome the feedback. Thanks again!

Of all the T6 Fed Sci ships, the Scryer has the best trait. However with its seating, I feel that the ship almost requires Reciprocity. The ship however has excellent turn-rate and cloak. The Intel abilities I don't like so much (I still prefer Sensor Analysis especially with a good Secondary Deflector). With Reciprocity and its Engineering seat, you can have a pretty good FAW boat.

If you do not or cannot have Reciprocity, the Pathfinder is a more friendly alternative. You can still have Lt.Cdr and Cdr Science seats while having 2 Lt.Tac seats (for 2 TT1 and 2 FAW2/TS2) that'll allow you to keep a good cycle of Tac Teams and weapons fire. If you want to run a torp boat, this seating is better in my opinion especially when used with the Terran T4 trait Astrometric Synergy.

Hmm.., I never considered the scryer. The ship looks to odd for me to like it though. I went with pathfinder.. But I have the dauntless already... I just like science ship.

Thanks for all the replies I went with the Scryer. Given your suggestions and some new gear that has been released into the game recently I have a few build ideas based around phasers and quantums for this new ship.

I run a phaser + quantum torp setup on my Pathfinder. I just love that ship because of its great set of science stations, its maneuverability, and it simply looks awesome. The Scryer a slightly better intelligence station layout, a cloak, and a better tier 5 mastery, but it gives up a lieutenant science slot for a lieutenant-commander engineering slot and frankly doesn't look as good as the Pathfinder.

If I didn't already have the Pathfinder I definitely would definitely grab a Scryer.

You'd be surprised how much you can customize the Scryer, it isn't hard to make it looks nice.

Don't go for pretty go for badass. Put the Iconian set on it with a white skin and black/red paint job.

    You will thank me. ;)
