I have a possible way or two for making ship interiors easier. The first way to save time and effort is to only have them be mission based, like in Missions: "City on the Edge of Never", "Capture the Flag", and "Delta Flight".
The second way is by removing the hallways of Federation and Klingon* ships, and simply having the turbolift options limited to different rooms, such as Players quarters, transporter room, astrometrics, sickbay, shuttlebay, armory, battlebridge if you have saucer separation, and engineering.
*I find the change unnecessary for RR ships, another way to save time and effort on interiors.

How did you ever get lost in hallways? They are either a straight line or a circle.
This is a serious question, I'm just really curious where you ended up being.
