How useful is the Plasmonic Leech vs. NPC's?

How useful is the Plasmonic Leech vs. NPC's?
Does it make a huge impact?

What thinking of getting one, but if its popularity is because of PvP then ill forget it since i dont PvP. But if it awesome against NPC's as well then thats good good for me.

So is it mainly for PvP?

Thanks.

Its the bomb. There is a reason every DPS player has one or tries to get one. There is a reason they cost about 93 million on the exchange. They help out massively for AMP cores and Singularity cored ships.

Power. It might not suck their subsystems dry on an NPC but it will fill yours up.
Wow. There is a new KDF Science ship. I'll be!

It is the single best item in the game.. hands down.

    That's why it's 80M+ on the Exchange.

It is ridiculously useful in PVE.

The Plasmonic Leech lets you do whatever you want without worrying about power issues at all. If you're looking to do damage then it's a must have.

    Very.

Depends on ur spec into flowcaps. More is more here.

If you intend to continue playing this game get that console. It's worth more than anything else I could think of in that price range.

It's for everything you shoot at in this game so its kinda for everything.
    Thanks.
    You are wellcome.

KDF Players can get the leech for only 1000 Zen from the Vandal destroyer. and even if you discard it you can always reclaim it AND it will also be available for KDF-allied Romulans (could be a reason to make a KDF toon or join the KDF as a Romulan.)

I'd recommend that you put as many spec points into flow caps as you can. its worth 9/9 and then get some of those Embassy plasma generating consoles +flow. (so you can get extra damage from the plasma proc and increase your flow caps even further). It should keep your energy levels up and that means more damage, better shields, speed, lower hangar pet recharge time...)

If you can, combine that with the Trait from the Battlecruiser and with 1-2 EptW your weapons energy should be at 125 almost all the time

Just an update, i was able to get the Vandal Destroyer at the sale today, so my KDF and KDF Reman can play with it. I made sure their flow caps was very high or nearly maxed.

Now i just have to worry about my FED and FED Rom since I'm TRIBBLE poor in EC.

Good call, especially during a sale.

The Leech alone is worth the Zen cost even if you never use the ship at all.

I was gifted one by a generous player in my Fleet back when they were only 40-45 million EC, and I thought that was outrageous. But yes, I agree it's best of the best. There are only two things all of my toons use - Plasmonic Leech and Red Matter Capacitor.

Plasmonic Leech > any tactical console for just about any build.
And, as was said above, it works great with the [AMP] bonus on warp cores.
You might be able to do a good build without one, but I would call it a must-have for a good build, the profession of your character doesn't matter.

If you can't get your hands on one, the next best option is the "Enhanced plasma manifolds" console that comes with the Oberth class, which buffs every subsystem except weapons (clickable active power).
Then, of course, there's Aux2Bat which will buff wep/shield/engines subsystems at the expense of aux power.

I would have to say that Plamonic Leech livee upto its status as "Universal Console"...

Regardless of what slot it is placed, or profession/build it is used with... you cannot go wrong with
    one.

The next best alternative to the Leech, IMHO, is the Supremacy Trait.

Where do the people placing it on exchange get it? I am making a few new toons on fed but realized that it might be impossible.. Somehow my fed has one .. Probably when it was still cheap.

At ~500 flowcaps it gives me 48 power to all sub systems while simultaneously draining that much from my target... activate a target subsystem power and they're toast. ;)

Wish it was a console you could purchase for lobi. I have plenty of lobi but to blow 80-100 million ec on one is not an option
  • samt1996samt1996 Member Posts: 2,856 Arc User
Buy Lobi stuff and sell on exchange.
  • tousseautousseau Member Posts: 1,484 Arc User
Well... if you're Klink, it is easier to get via:

Did they give away this ship at some point? (Considering its low level) .. Hope so chances I might have it then :)

That would be true if not for the fact that Supremicy is more expensive then the leech. The Astika is almost twice the price of just buying a Plasmonic Leech.

Honestly, there really is no effective substitute for the Leech Console. The Oberth console is probably the closest just because it's cheap to acquire.

    MACO shields.

I was going to ask how well the Maco shields stack against the leach, since they're a heck of a lot easier to get.
  • tousseautousseau Member Posts: 1,484 Arc User
They cancel each other out... leech builds stacks based on outgoing damage, while the MACO shield is based on incoming damage.

Whether intended, or not, they reset each others respective stacks.

It's intended they both don't stack. They actually used to but Cryptic nerfed that once there was Adapted KHG Shields and the Plasmonic Leech hit the Lockbox Console Swap. It was something very obvious and Cryptic nipped that very early.

there is Greedy emitters from the nandi warship, but impossible to get this starship trait for the new players; so yes the oberth console is a good alternative + the maco shield.

If the Leech is a Rocket Launcher, the Maco Shields are a pellet gun.

Maco is fine if you can't get the leech, but they provide no where near the bonus that the leech does. Not even close.

So what if i have the Oberth console AND greedy emiters trait? How good a substitute is that?
Sorry, no maco shield, i have the adapted maco shield thats are part of a well planned out ship build.

I also have red matter capacitor if that helps.
