Special weapons bound to ship purchases (aka Andorian phasers) for everyone!

No, I don't mean make them available without the ship purchase, but think about it.

Canon does provide at least in background information a unique characteristic weapon for almost any important faction in the game.

We have the Andorian blue phasers, based on the Kumari ship. Andorians had the most advanced weapon systems to date which is a (non canonical) explanation why TOS phasers are blue - they used Andorian weapons (Axanar builds on that). But that's it - it seems like a concept that was abandoned.

I say it would be neat to expand on that, for the sake of variety and a motivation to buy stuff.

Vulcans used a greenish particle beam in ENT, the game equips the D'Kyr with plasma weapons initially. I'd suggest adding this weapon to the D'Kyr, a green phaser basically (to keep the Fed flavour). Maybe a phaser with plasma proc?

Tellarites use red phasers in comic book adaptations of ENT. I'd love red "Tellarite phasers", even if they are only stock phasers. As a possible twist however I could imagine phasers with a polaron proc, reducing subsystem efficiency. Also: Tellarite ship! Do it!

Gorn use "Gorn disruptors" according to behind-the-scenes info on TOS: "Arena". They are supposed to be "sonic disruptors" - we already have a sonic mod in the game, add it to disruptors and tie it to a Gorn c-store purchase!

Orions do not have a signature weapon I think, but keeping to the faction tune, Orion disruptors with a phaser proc to disable subsystems sound like a sound idea.

Nausicaans I could see utilizing some vicious disruptor adding a radiation DoT and a crew killing effect.

All those weapons should ideally also be unlocked in the crafting menu once you purchase the ship they come with, allowing you to craft omni beams, wide arc cannons and apply different mods than the advanced fleet ones. I would feel this would be a great addition to the game, especially for people that like to make (sub)faction ship designs, all Tellarite or Orion crews and use ships.

I like this idea. How many races are in, say, the Federation? I'd think that many of them would have their own take on the technology, right? Plus, more lockbox fodder, at worst. ;)

I'd say they should keep it in a reasonable frame and not flood the system with too many weapons.

Andorians, Tellarites and Vulcans are the founders of the federation so they deserve a special spotlight and a ship for each. On the red side STO makes them a federation of their own, but essentially Klingons dictate the faction flavour and so Gorn, Orions and Nausicaans are the most well known and most important "members" of that faction so they deserve the "founders" treatment in my opinion. The smaller members just adapt the general standard issue weapons.

I can get behind this; if only to have crafted CrtDx3 or Dmgx2 Pen blue phasers to go with the quantum phaser set.

I do wish though they gave Phasers in general a better ability.

As to green phasers, don't forget there are the Biomolecular Phasers. Granted, those cost Dil, and a Plasma Phaser would be a fun idea.

And the red pulse phasers fired from emitters not phaser strips, from the TOS films. Mind you, that would require the Constitution and Miranda models to use fixed hardpoints and not the TNG style phaser strips.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Yes I know. Also, why do you point out that the sips are in the c-store? I don't get your point.

Phased biomatter matches the quantum phasers quite well and has a nice proc to boot. A tad expensive though

I forgot those, but I personally never liked the sound and visuals of them. The phased beam goes well with Andorian beams (don't know about cannons, though). It's a little bit brighter and more "fizzly" but I will kit one ship in a complete phased set (weapon set and the current episode's set) and Andorian phasers (ironically it's a Tellarite pig-2.gif)

It is and it isn't likely to change, but I still like their line of thought which is why I mentioned it pig-1.gif The early days of Starfleet and the time prior to "the cage" are untouched by canon and ENT blew majorly in the regard that this is what they could have done but they decided to play some boring temporal shenenigans and quadrant controlling superpowers that were never mentioned again.

I'd say yes if they were worth it...like Andorian phasers, IMO, aren't...they're just blue phasers with the same phaser proc...don't really think they should make the rainbow just to have a rainbow of colors...seems like a waste of time better spent elsewhere...but if they're unique procs or least dual procs like you mentioned with the Vulcan...I could get behind.
