Title says it all. The new deflector and set coming with stormbound is a GREAT science set. But considering the fact at tier 6, we have next to no science ships, why are we getting so much science equipment?
Someone explain?
Edit: I had a tired moment and said science equipment too many times. Sue me. I'm only human, and as Spock says, if he were human(and I am) my response would be "Go to hell".
And since I am human, my response is since I made a boo boo "Go to hell."

?????? Your statement makes zero sense. How can getting so much science equipment be next to no science equipment?
And yeah really no science ships??? Gee golly Feds have tons of Science ships!

I think he means there is no good T6 Sci ship.
I am from Belgium and english isn't my main language, sorry if I make mistakes.

They are obviously working very hard to increase the excitement and anticipation for the next Science Vessel, in the hopes of this time people actually buying it in droves, not like the last times.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
Pathfinder is what it is for a T6 Sci ship, but like, I want something new. I've been using my Vesta since the day it was released and I'm ready for a brand new science ship though I wouldn't mind just upgrading to a T6 version of the Vesta.
Other than the Pathfinder being the only science oriented ship, I don't want to see another hybrid science ship that still thinks it's a cruiser or escort. We have too many of those.
I'd buy the Geneva if it had a Com Science station, then it would be more sciency having both Com and Lt. Com sci stations. I'm not buying it because of the extra science console slot or it's special console.
I use subsystem targeting all the time, especially knocking off their engines to bring them to a halt. Particularly useful for fast moving npcs like Terran ships or undine. And getting a lucky hit and knocking off all their shields seconds before a torp barrage hits is still very cool.

And nothing anyone could remotely rely on. Too luck-based. If it was a passive buff t hat was simply applied to every (beam?) attack, maybe, but as activatable abilities with long cooldowns... Meh. Knocking engines offline sounds neat, but if the enemy is stuck in your gravity well, it doesn't really matter anymore.

Try using with high flowcaps, I drain 75+ subsystem power per hit. Toss on an energy syphon and their shields are gone. Or that Doff that Increases the offline chance by 25% for a total of 45% chance.
Few items in the game are universal across all builds you often need to specialize to make good use of it.
null Actually having it as a toggle on/off button for subsystem targeting and just giving a base 2.5% proc chance might make it more appealing to players. It would almost be like adding a selectable proc to your weapons.
I still find it useful but it is too chance based for most players to bother with it.
All the people saying the feds don't have a tier 6 sci ship don't know what they are talking about. I have the tier 6 sci ship on my fed. Its the intrepid, and it is a really good ship. I have the fleet version, and I hold my own with it. I often times win 2nd or 3rd place in stfs with it, even with people with high dps. Gravity well is my secret weapon. I am sure a new rom tier 6 sci ship like the current tier 5 one is coming. Kdf however needs a sci ship. Kdf actually don't have a any sci ships, and my sci char uses the bop cause its the only one I can put com and lt com sci boffs in.
Helping people is my passion in life. If I see someone without a smile I try to give them mine.
Sci doesn't get a whole lot of love, but what it does have is pretty impressive.
I have to think that Sunrise's set is indicative of something coming in the near future. That's a seriously sci-focused set, moreso than we've had in a while.
At the very least, I'm just happy that the set exists on its own.
I'm kinda sick of sets in general for Featured Episodes. I like it when they give Traits or unique items like the Delta Alliance call or something like the Time Displacement Device for ground. Sets are getting out of control in FE's. Id love more unique stuff. better and unique but good enough that you can put them on more then one ship.

I'd like to have the sets spread across more than one mission. I just kinda stop bothering to get some of these sets because I like to do story missions at least once, but having so many unique rewards that can only be gotten one way irks me.
Vesta is still the only sci vessel that you need, its hard to improve upon that design, soon as a t6 version hits (which may be never) then everyone can go to that one instead of the t5u version.

Well there is one, but it's reserved only for the lucky few who won the R&D promo lottery or have massive amounts of EC to throw around.
So those few are the true Science players, the rest are just acting.

Yup and some player still claim that the game is f2p and not p2w.
Maybe if the Annorax was the most powerful ship in the game...
Very intriguing.

Well it is the most powerful sci ship in the game...
Pay to win is when you're forced to use money to beat content or progress.
Therefore, you are a moron with no grasp of the English language because STO is stupidly easy.

Agreed.
