Skittles Build

TASTE THE RAINBOW!

yeah, i'm one of those guys that always bucks the system, gotta do things the hard way, and every one of my builds is an experiment of some sort.

for something different to try with my Pakled alt, i decided to go with stuff that everyone says you SHOULDN'T do--namely, BOTH a rainbow build combined with a turret (faw) build. Much to my surprise, it works.

now i didn't throw any strait turrets on there, each has uncommon procs, meaning it thows all kinds of debuffs out there, and with a faw spam (enhanced cd focus) and i don't need to aim, just keep throwing those skittles out there. the result is not the highest dps, but it does perform surprisingly well, especially against pet centric ships.

[Credit for the build name has to go to my fleet--Rogues Alliance--someone there came up with it, i just don't remember who.]

Pssst, FAW doesn't affect turrets. You use CRF and CSV for them.

I did a Polaron rainbow Fak'iri carrier using regular, protonic and thoron beams but sadly the colors were too whitish to make the rainbow really pop.

I once had a Polaron Rainbox on my Gorn's ship, plus a red KCB, and got badmouthed via pm during a queue for "not understanding the system" and "killing the team" with my n00bism. He had enough time to write since he kept blowing up all the time. Anyway, I was a tad bugged and switched to an all rainbow beam build on the Gorn, am flying it ever since and having a lot of fun with it. (Oh, and it works, with 5 spire beam consoles you can still dish out the "ouch!")

Before DR I built a multi proc skittle turret boat. Had one of each dual proc turret on board at the time.
    Powered by "Cannon" damage consoles.
    Worked well back then.

Running with a Fleet adv disruptor turret (CrtD/Dmgx3) build on my Nandi.
Using the Elachi Single Cannon and Bio turret up front.
+30k DPS on a regular basis.

If there is a will, there is a way.

I have a skittle boat, turrets on the back and ordinary cannons (for the wide arc) on the front. I was VERY surprised at how well it performs. Now I'm working on a rainbow build for a different toon.

Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours.

I dare you to do better.

    Then there's a skittles disruptor ship =)

Aha! Phased polaron, spiral wave, andorian, starfleet, and biomolecular for phasers. Just to throw that out there :)

How about an invisible skittle boat!? Every weapon type except Plasma now has a blue variant.

    Troll in silence. >;)

a skittles build is really not a beam boat, it's a turret volley boat. and while i've got several combo dis builds, i don't think of any of them as a (skittles or even) rainbow build--because they're only using dis, even if they're focused on the different procs.

my understanding of the 'rainbow' term may be different from what you guys think it is though--i've always understood it to mean all damage types more than all colors (which used to be the clue for what damage type you were using..)

I think it's simply any build that goes against the norm with more variety of weapon type or color.

I'll buy that, as a descriptor of rainbow. Skittles then is a Cannon Volley type of rainbow.

Is there a different term for using multiple (or all) damage types?

    Don't think so.

I'm running an AP Rainbow Mobius with the following weapons:

Antiproton Beam Bank with [Over]load mod (red)
Chroniton Dual Beam Array (rotating color)
Herald Antiproton Beam Array (dark purple)
    Ancient Omni Beam Array (red)
Antiproton Beam Array with [Over]load (red)
    Kinetic Cutting Beam (thin red/orange)

    Phased Quantum Torpedo Launcher
    Temporal Disruption Device

DPS is usually in the 40k range, so it's not too shabby :)
