It seems strange to me the T6 Defiant has no cloak

The other two ships have cloaks that are part of the bundle release (where the Defiant/Valiant was released), but for some reason this version of the Defiant has no cloaking device. Does that seem strange to anyone else? I'd think the most advanced version would have one.

There are already a couple of discussions on this.

Long story short: the Defiant (or Valiant actually) can use the Fed cloak console. But like the Defiant on DS9 it doesn't have a cloak (no, the ship did not have a cloak itself, it got one for lease from the Roms). Integrated Fed cloak so far only happens on Intel ships.

Not to me. I don't even use the cloak anyways on my Fed Defiant. I got the version where it came with that consul. I just wanted the ship. So I trashed the consul. And used that slot for something better.

It also would have been redundant in the 2-piece item set they created with the T6.

It does have a cloak, its obtained on the T5 Defiant, its part of a set you collect. Soon to be a 3pc set hopefully.

To familiarize yourself with the concept of sets, and set synergy please click on this

Scroll down and you'll see that there is many ship sets, where you collect the various ships of the same line to put the items from those ships into one set, and you get special abilities from doing that.

If you consider yourself a Defiant fan, you should already have the Tac refit T5 with the cloak anyways.

If you must have the cloak console (it sucks), get from the Galaxy Pack off the Gal-X Dread. There is no reason whatsoever to buy the Defiant Refit or Retrofit.

Why would you need the Cloak, or for that matter, even bother with this ship at all. Some guy has a Thread here that says the T6 Defiant is a Total Fail.

Move along, don't even waste your time. ;)

That's because that person believes the Pilot Escorts are superior because they have the specific Pilot Maneuver abilities and feels that all Escorts from now on should be just like them. The T6 Defiant is no different than, say, the T6 Galaxy. Its not specialization ship, so she wouldn't get the mechanics like the specalized Pilot/Intel/Command ships. She's got seating for Hybrid BOffs, which I personally believe works just fine for the non specalized ships.

IMO, the Pilot Escorts are now the golden master race of Escorts that beat out every other Escor tso far in the game, and wil ldo so in the forseeable future. 5/2 weapon layout and Pilot maneuvers are just too awesome as a combination.

Pilot really is the only ship class that got such an awesome Speicalization feature. Inspiration and Gather Intel are in comparison boring, lame, and have hardly a game effect that matters compared to the always present, damage immunity granting and incredibly fun pilot maneuvers.

But... The Defiant Tier 6 upgrade is exactly in line with all the other Tier 6 Escort Retrofits, and even the other Tier 6 Escorts (like the Phantom). The Pilot ships are the outliers here, not the Defiant.

And despite al that uberness and coolness the Pilot ships bring - the Defiant is a deadly ship and does't have to hide behind the Advanced Escort, the Phantom or the Alita. It competes very well with them.

The Refit gives you the Quad Cannons. This way you get a Defiant based ship. Others will debate if they are useful. To me they do a very nice job, and has nice effects when firing. I have no issues using them. Then again they are the same ones saying a Romulan D'Dedriex can't use cannons either. But I use mine all the time.

Also with the purchase of the Refit, you get the Sao Paulo variation.

That is because the player can't handle a Defiant. The Defiant has been my main escort on the Fed side. That ship can really do some damage.

    Like very very good.
In PvE, yeah not so much.
Really only shines when your enemy can withstand a lot of firepower.
Like in PvE, a Tac cube or something (but even those now days are popping in very short order - depending on your team)

Sorry but non-Battle Cloaks are not very useful in most instances in PVE. And the two piece set powers even less so for this type of Cloak.

Neither did the second (Defiant-class, formerley USS Sao Paulo) USS Defiant.

Exactly, and the fact we're not flying around with 'Phase Cloaking' tech on our fed ships would seem to prove that the Federation is still 'bound' by the 'Treaty of Algeron'.

fly more klingon ships. it does more then enough. if you use right.

Yes. A dev has said on twitter, then was quoted on reddit, that an update was forthcoming to the Defiant set, no other details. But this was surrounding "observations" that the quad cannons were neglected and the reduction of cloak cooldown made was useless on regular cloak and was superfluous.

Honestly I have a pilot raptor on the KDF side and the Valiant right now(along with the other 2 ships in the 3 pack). All I have to say, is compared to the sci raptor and the phantom, defiant is not lacking for firepower. And IMHO Valiant is a tad tougher than pilot escorts.
