    A new Emperor .
    I for one think that there has been a change in command - since there was an Iconian War. I also like to think it differentiates between different factions. In my latest foundry project - "Twilight before the New Dawn", I am using yellow ship markings to indicate a group called the Terran Union. The reds are the Empire as we have know it.​​

    A different Mirror Universe. I maintain they're multiple versions (Do the Alliance have cloaks or not) based on the evidence from 'Parallels'. It's also give a reasonable reason for Leeta working for the Terrans.​​

    Terran mobs do cloak don't they? As for the red hull... most likely whatever the first new Terran Emperor/Empress wanted.

    Why is everything red all of a sudden?

    Terran Empire = Red

    Colour of the new rep lazors = Red

    Alliance Starbase = Red (though I suspect under Terran control)

    Mirror Romulans = Red

    Mirror Ask'kaar = Red (I called red first!)

    Mirror Fluffy = Red (technically pink but... that's reddish)

    My pee = Red!

    They just felt like it.
    Because yellow is the Cardassian's national color set. Green/red is Klingon, blue/green is Romulan, black/green is Borg, purple is Dominion, silver/teal is voth, white/black is FED. The intergalactic planning council met and decided, to avoid confusion in a Cardassian heavy season, that the Terran Empire should respray and remodulate their entire navy.

    Also, Red=Angry. So FED+RED=Angry FED. Also the word DREFDE.

    Maybe its a factional thing. I find it hard to believe an empire like this would be completely united. Leeta's supporters might use red, while some other faction within the empire might use yellow.

    They were using red before Leeta's rise to power ... although... brain on... we only saw a handful and Leeta identified them as her "soldiers" so... maybe.

    What about James(?) O'brien's (the son of Smiley, from the now-defunct MU arc) followers? Might they have used purple as opposed to yellow (the Emperor's/Empress' colours perhaps)?

    I like the factions theory, but the game doesn't give a hint on that. And since STOs MU is a stupid concept to begin with and nothing in it makes sense I don't think about it too much.

    I can't believe I'm saying this, but I liked the old Cardassian/Mirror arc better than all this time travel BS, and I find it incredibly hard to believe that Leeta managed to survive working in Bajor sector this long without getting her collaborating TRIBBLE shot.

    Very interesting to see the responses - and to diffuse the existing, future, past and mirror arguments - I will say that each of these answers are correct - depending on the mirror version. I for one am using blue markings in my aforementioned mission for the Terran Union.​​

      Don't forget the original purple faction. They may have been defeated by one of the other factions or they simply don't have an interest in attacking the prime universe at this point.

      One could write in a house color system at work behind all of this...similar to another prominent sci-fi empire (just so long as we avoid bringing Sting into this. :P)

      Because the Brotherhood of NOD pierced the veil between games and decided the Mirror Universe was not menacing enough.
      So they took over and repainted everything in their favorite color.

      Someone needed something to do,, so they redesigned the Mirror Markings and earned there paycheck for the week.

      More realistically its an update to the original which is something to be expected. Every so often symbols get updated.
