Far Fewer "Current Map" DOFF Assignments?

daltonimperialdaltonimperial Member Posts: 47 Arc User
When I first log on, I've generally had a healthy amount of DOFF assignments available under the Current Map. The first time I logged on after today's patch, I only had about 4 assignments to choose from instead of the usual 8. I visited several different sectors (including transwarping to Solanae Dyson Sphere and then the Undine Space Battlezone and only seeing 2 or 3 assignments instead of the usual 10+) and, while the assignments would change (e.g. 2 trade would become 1 engineering and 1 trade), the number available under Current Map did not for the most part change.

The detailed sub-categories/bridge assignments (e.g. the Engineering section that will have assignments to build consoles and weapons) all had their usual (high) number of assignments available.

Not sure if this is a bug or simply an update (either with a general reduction in current map missions OR a longer cooldown time) with New Dawn.

I can verify this is a bug. I went into the sphere to get assignments, and I get only 2-4 versus the long list I used to get. Same goes for every map I visit.

Something else I noticed: Gamma Quad commodity "Haggle" assignments are not showing up on DS9 ground maps. I did not check the trader, though.

I confirm this as well. There are a few areas on the border of sectors where a few more missions show up - but no R&D materials science missions at all. Even ground missions are much lesser too.

Hmmm....looking further on these "Haggle" missions and other DOFF assignments....interacting with the Trader or my Department Heads (I would assume other contacts)...the lists are populated with assignments.

When looking at the "Current Map" it only lists 3. Not sure why?
Maybe the UI is confused and counting the Admiralty Assignments as part of the quota for populating the regular "Current Map" list for DOFFing?

Yep same here, quite annoying I had a lot of R+D materials to gather for some much needed new bits and pieces.

They do show up at the Trader, I was just there and got Tulaberries and Javonite. But yes, far fewer doff assignments in space and they're the same all over. Where there would usually be a change due to border is now not happening. And to make matters worse the same thing seems to apply for the Department Head's tabs.

Edit: Yes, the scan assignments for R&D mats are utterly gone.

I wonder if it's less of a bug than a revised approach to doff assignments. I've noticed in the past where "Current Map" appeared to list assignments that were available under other listings; perhaps that's now been "cleaned up" so that a given assignment only shows up under a particular listing.

Go into the Dyson Sphere, the problem is more pronounced in there, except for the special assignments which still work fine.

You can add Marauding missions to this list including the ones under Department Heads tab. 5 fleet members just went looking and almost none were available. As mine should have been off any possible cooldown as I haven't done them for a few days due to lag/rubberbanding that made flying around sector space impossible, I think these are well and truly gone. This affects most of those that gives contraband and prisoners.

I noticed a distinct drop in DOFF missions as well, including zero missions that yield crafting materials. I'm glad (I guess) it wasn't just me. I very much hope this is an error. My DOFF missions drive a lot of my Dilithium and XP gains on busy days and I definitely like the stream of crafting materials.

Confirmed on multiple characters they don't show up under 'Current Map'. They do show up at the Ferengi trader near the shipyard on DS9 as well as the trader on my Ferengi Nandi bridge.

It seems 'Current Map' assignments are missing a lot in ground, system, and sector space all over the game.

Confirmed and ditto. Lots of doff assignments missing, r&d ones for a few extra mats are utterly GONE.

It it is deliberate it pretty much kills off crafting/R+D due to the very slow pace of which those resources can be gathered during normal play.

Nah, Marauding is definitely still there under First Officer, I got a bunch on my KDF Reman I rarely doff with earlier. What I didn't look for were the Forced Labor assignments under Tactical.

Okay then me and my fleet mates might simply had an unlucky night, it happens. I'm going to check it later to see if anything shows up or if it's one of those bugs that only affect some characters and not others. But thanks for the heads up :).

I'm surprised the first thing people assume is this was to remove assignments that award R&D materials. That's not true at all. You can still find assignments under 'Exploration' in the science department head section that award them.

A lot of everything is missing under current map: marauding, diplomacy, exploration, science, trade, tactical, espionage, etc.
  • whitewhale80whitewhale80 Member Posts: 86 Arc User
They still have some of the 'scan' missions under exploration certainly but when I was playing last night none of them awarded materials as success rewards.
  • generator88generator88 Member Posts: 698 Arc User
"Still" there? If they're there, great, but to my recollection the R&D material assignments never used to show under department head listings in the first place. I'll take a look tonight.

There were always some RD materials assignments in Exploration, but they always were with "High" casuality chance...
The ones on Current map always were with "Low" casuality chance.

I noticed some of the missions that were originally in sector space are now in Admiralty so not sure if they moved them and that's WAI or they're referencing possibly similar data fields and that broke sector doff assignments. I really hope its not the former since I would prefer to have the option of choosing the system I want to use for assignments.

Especially as the admiralty section is pretty much unusable for many players!

I assumed they removed the "scan for x"/"analyze y" missions because the Admiralty system has provided a new, better source for R+D mats. However, on reflection, that was a dumb assumption, because it still screws over under-52s. And yes, the only r+d mat missions that are currently available under any category are the "recover artifacts" missions with the high casualty rate under exploration, or low casualty rate under marauding. Also, neither of those missions are guaranteed to reward mats, and never have been, there's always been a chance of receiving mats from them.

A bigger bug I noticed this morning, however, (for which I will file a separate bug report) is the fact that doff assignments are not granting bonuses based on grade % bonuses anymore. I.e. a normal or crit success are now giving the same rewards with full purples as they would with full whites.

*edit* Nevermind, I guess I can't post a separate report about the doff grade bonus bug, because despite having played for years, apparently it considers my account brand new, since this is the first time I've posted. Would someone mind copy/pasting for me to create a separate report?

Count me in on this - I noticed an utter lack of materials doff missions last night.

Another thing that's gone missing (and I checked properly this time) Diplomacy assignments. The ones on the Current map are gone in the Alpha Quadrant except the Procure X Prototype for 50k as well as those under the First Officer tab. I checked on all my Feds (I have 5) and had a couple of fleet mates check as well. All gone.
As for Beta Quadrant, Current Map looks pretty much the same except that even the Procure assignment isn't always available. At least here some of those under the First Officer tab is still around, but it's pitiful few compared to before.

Now it's possible that some of this is due to cooldowns and bad luck with getting them, but it looks... odd. So I'm going to check over the next few days for this. And while removing the R&D scan missions might, might that is, have a logical explanation, even if it's crappy logic from Cryptic is they really have removed them, I see no sense whatsoever in removing the Diplomacy assignments. And then only partially.

These exploration missions are not the same thing at all. You mean those 20 hour missions right? These are the 30min, 45 min, 1 ,2 , and 3 hour missions - which have never been under department head. The 20 hour missions are useless in comparison.

I can confirm that some Doff Assignments appear to be missing. I can also confirm that this was NOT an intentional change, and will be investigated.

Until we can nail this down, getting additional information on which specific Assignments appear to be missing may be helpful. So far, groups that are being reported as universally absent are:

    - "Scan" and "Analyze" assignments which yield R&D Materials
    - "Haggle" assignments for DS9 commodities

Please post here if you can confirm the definite absence of others (and not just low odds situations).

Thanks for jumping into the discussion, Bort, I figured you'd be by here soon.
I haven't had time to look into what else is missing yet, but I'd bet my eyeteeth that the Rom/Reman recruitment missions are bugged again. They're so rare anyway that it is hard to be sure, but they seem to go AWOL every major release.

Thanks Bort. I'll keep a lookout on the Diplomacy missions over the next couple of days - as I said it might have been bad luck - and find the specific names for the ones that are awol.
