Oh, I wish I could pick pieces. I love Delta's nacelle placement, but damn does Gamma have a good-looking sacuer. Either way, I'm going #TeamDelta.
  • barimanforumsbarimanforums Member Posts: 104 Arc User
Umm... Delta even though I don't like how close the nacelles are to the body. Judging from the comments so far, neither of these are going to win anyway.

I voted Delta because, well, it's different from the rest of the design options. Plus, I rather like the mission pod up top.

Still, my prediction is that the final round will be a pseudo-Biblical match up. In fact, this Carrier should have an Inertia of 21 and a Turn Rate of 6... I am the Alpha and the Omega, the winner and runner-up. I will give unto him that is a Fed the Carrier of the pets of the hangar, freely.

Beta and Delta are the best designs out of the lot. Why? Because they actually look unique. The others are just too similar to various other ships in the game.

People need to stop thinking they might be getting an escort because it looks like an escort, in the end it all depends on what scale they make the finished product, those illuminated points you see in the top down views with the marking on the deck beyond them are the hangers, that should give you an indication of how big they plan to make to make the ship.

Delta, because it has a round saucer and a very unique look from several angles.
The Gamma, to be honest, has too much similarities to at least 3 of the other designs offered that will probably make it to the next round, so it would be more of the same.
Take a real close look at these ships, they are all using parts from each other shuffled around.

Oh course they are. The whole point of this "Tournament" is to kill time.

Actually I want to split my vote. I like Delta's engines but Beta's saucer.

This was my problem with the last set. I voted for neither in the last round because I equally liked/disliked elements of both.

In this case, I really really dislike Delta's saucer with the weird "schnozz" more than I dislike Gamma's nacelle arrangement. I suppose I'll have to vote Gamma. Maybe. Gamma would win me over if the upper set of nacelles were the longer ones.

I liked Gamma's look better. Was not really digging the Delta saucer or it looking like a manta ray. Now, if the Xindi had that ship I would be ok. Though the four nacelles on the Gamma now that I think about it are starting to bother me a lot. Maybe the Delta nacelles could have been used in the Gamma one. Hmm. Had a harder time deciding this one than the first round.

So far, all these votes have shown me is that around half of us are going to be disappointed, and half of us are going to be satisfied with the final outcome.

Yeah, this kind of reminds me of certain laws that get passed. Regardless of how silly or TRIBBLE they are, the government have their asses covered because, "Hey, you voted for it.".

Delta because it actually has a round saucer and it's side profile looks a lot nicer.

Plus it actually does have an engineering hull for the nacelles to join to which makes more sense that just one massive saucer section.

Why can we not mix and match the best parts of them, carrier means large room for fighters, runabouts, and/or shuttles, it needs a large hangar bay, but Federation look with more than one bay/squadron? It will be a slow mover, it will need extra armor/shield power, a battle cloak, and 5 fore and 3 aft weapons slots. Maybe Sigma Design would fit over all build. We really need a Battleship style starship as well, with heavy armor/shields and extra fire power.
  • stobg2015stobg2015 Member Posts: 800 Arc User
Gotta admit though, I'll be disappointed if either of these win. Go #TeamOmega!

I'll have to see the side view first. Not getting a good sense of the nacelle arrangements on that one. But the top profile says "carrier" to me more than any of the other designs. Maybe I'll reserve my votes for that one.

Gamma looks a lot better, looks more like a CV than Delta, plus it looks a lot better than the Delta.

The main things I like about Gamma is its main hull, and the saucer, although the Delta has some nice looking pylons but I don't like where the nacelles are, just reminds me too much of the Constellation class

I would've chosen to combine Delta's saucer with Gamma's nacelles if it were possible...

I agree - I'd take the front 25% of Delta's round sauser and change Gamma so it's front was rounded.

People need to understand that they won't be allowed to vote bits and pieces, only the Devs will do that.

People need to chose the ships they like best regardless of their bit love.

Pick the ship with the most bits you like instead of not voting and simply wishing for bits from both ships, that's not how this works.

Pick the ship with the most bits you like instead of not voting and simply wishing for bits from both ships, that's not how this works.

We understand how this works and it's self-evident that it's not a kitbash or they'd just make all the parts and let us pick what we want.

(Which would be pretty cool, actually. The realities of ship modeling, though, I know that's not happening.)

However, the Devs are presumably reading through these posts for feedback that may or may not end up in the final cut and I imagine they're going to be paying some attention to which ships get the most total votes. So if you really don't like a design, saving your vote for one you do like will help to push things in the right direction. Voting for a design that you hate less doesn't really compute.

And it may be an excellent plug for select alternative pieces that can be customized. Nacelle/strut swaps are one of the easier modifications. So for people who say they'd like to see X nacelles on Y hull, they might just get their wish.

I'm not fond of either, but like Presidential elections, I voted the least of two evils.

I liked Delta's Round Saucer, but I hate it being no different than the Patrol Escort. And I want a Carrier to feel like a Carrier.
The Delta saucer looks too much like the Enterprise-J which bothers me for two reasons:

    1) That is what 5 or 6 centuries away still? It seems a little soon to be incorporating design ideas to be used in the 31st century.

    2) The Enterprise should be the ship that other vessels take design elements from, not the other way around.

The Enterprise J is Mid 26th Century, which means 150 years away.

To be honest, the only design I liked out ANY of them was Beta, and it was the first to die. I couldn't care less about any of these (IMHO) ugly four-nacelle monsters. I won't be voting.

Beta was my favorite too, maybe the devs will have mercy and let it be a customization alternative so we aren't all stuck with 4 nacelle carriers. It would have been nice if the devs built it so that half the competition was two nacelle and the other half four and the two winners would be the two customization options.

The saucer on Gamma looks awesome
Delta's saucer reminds me of the Dervish class Patrol Escort.
Nope, we're not building an escort

    So Gamma it is.

Actually, Gamma could be even better with Delta's nacelles.

#teamgamma, but only because it's the better pile of *censored* between two piles of *censored*.

None of the designs that have been presented really stand out as unique or interesting. They strike me more as generic Cruisers & Escorts than as a unique, 2-hanger heavy carrier.

To be frank, I think the rough sketch in the top-right quarter of the title banner is the best design of the lot. Still looks Federation, but it's got an interesting new design, & I could see the Hangers being housed in that enlarged neck between the saucer & the secondary hull.

A Heavy Battleship is a large, heavily armored warship with very powerful weapon systems. Heavy Battleships are larger, better armed, and better armored than Battleships, cruisers and destroyers.

A Heavy Battleship boasts of an arsenal of 16 Type-XIV phaser arrays, 16 Type-XIV Pulse Phaser Cannons, 16 rapid fire torpedo launchers (5-tube), 8 rapid fire torpedo turrets (3-tube) and 10 micro-torpedo phalanx arrays (5 star, 5 port).

It has an full armament payload of of 750 Q-II Quantum torpedoes, 250 Transphasic torpedoes, 1,500 Mark IV Photon torpedoes, and 1,800 Quantum Micro-Torpedoes.

It also boasts of redundant regenerative and Multiphasic Shielding and regenerative ablative armor technology.

Unless that "Design your own ship" thing will come close to these specs, THEN i will be interested. but until then, if it's not going to be like this, then I"m going to consider this as something to be avoided, like the Paparazzi, relatives and unwanted friends. If you have a problem with my post, tough.
