Xindi-Terrestrial Lockbox

The Lockboxes are currently going for 200K each, where Master Keys are now up to 3.8m each. If they reach 300K each (which they will) they will be 10x as expensive as the next cheapest lockbox.

Do you think it's time Cryptic stepped in and did something about this issue? It is my understanding that this Lockbox is the only one where there is an item rarer / more valuable than the Lockbox ship itself.

No. It's a player driven market.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

It's all due to one particular power which can be found in it.
Cryptic does not regulate the exchange and it's a fierce debate if they should.

On one hand it might end some of the monopolies which drive up prices and on the other hand EC is a fairly disposable currency in STO plus if deals cannot be made on the exchange there will still be trade channels and private exchanges.

Personally i feel it'd be best to stay away from it though it'd be nice to see an end to the monopolies.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

In the past Cryptic has done multi-lockbox events where all the lockboxes will drop from NPC's. I imagine they will do one again eventually. The next time one happens stock up on this lockbox - it seems to be the most desirable box.

Those are right before every new season, so there's one coming in the near future.
So I better sell my 100+ boxes now, I guess.

I thought you could buy the boxes themselves with a token amount of dilithium??

only the current lockbox, right now you can only buy year of hell lockboxes.

that makes sense. I obsessively keep 20 of each forever 'just in case.'

But during those box re-run events all boxes are in the dil store, so the price will drop greatly in the futre since there will be an unlimited supply for a short time.

    that's 200 x 200,000 = 40,000,000

    :open_mouth:

There's profit on the winds !
(I should really keep a closer eye on the exchange fluctuations, looks like Ill be selling lockboxes tonight)

Time for another re-do for Xindi and other lockboxes. Once in a while there is re-do of feature episodes that would drop off "old" boxes. Wonder why they have forgotten about this year. They used to do it at least 2x year in the past.

Really right now the only issue i am finding is more that the Xindi hanger pets have/use only beam based weapon save for maybe a torp, but with the trait that causes them to use cannon rapid fire or beam overload when you use that ability it kinda forces you into using either just beams or not using the trait. For me i wish one of the three hanger pets for the Xindi an even future multi hanger pets would have some veriety in what they use. Like one that has a mixture of beams an cannons or torps, one with just beams, and one just cannons maybe even a solo torp would be nice maybe.

Awesome, I think i've got about 30 or 40 of those sitting in inventory. To the nearest exchange...

Thanks for making aware of this.
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

Probably time for the next lock box soon with season 11...you can buy all your heart desires with a little bit of dilithium soon.

Them giving away something which turns out to be valuable? Yes Cryptic really needs to stop doing that. (Stares at stacks of Delta lockboxes nobody wants.)

Personally I agree. We need to harshly regulate any and every item on the exchange, to make it more affordable and better control and restrict profit. No one should be making that much virtual currency ..and uh .. yeah ? :p

As long as there are people that will pay, the prices will remain high for certain hard to acquire items.

I don't know about regulation but I think a real market needs a cost of bringing stuff to market.

We haven't had a lockbox event in a very long time. Hence the reason Plasmonic Leech has shot from 30M to 90M. As supply dwindles on highly demanded items, prices soar.

You can either buy now at the inflated rate or wait until the next lockbox event to push prices back down. As said above, it's a player driven economy, there is no reason for Cryptic to intervene either way.
    Insert witty signature line here.

Already did that with my ~100 boxes for about 150k each

    ka-ching :D

Srsly, as much as it amuses me I have to admit that it really is completely ludicrous to make so much cash with friggin boxes alone.

Of course they did. People are willing to pay the 200k and yet for some reason desperate people come along and drive the price down. It's ludicrous how so many of the markets in STO are seller driven and they TRIBBLE themselves over all the time by driving down the price.

200k for a lockbox? u realy sold 1 for that? Exchange - if i own the only green mk iv tetryon cannon (acc) i could try to sell it for 500m - but we all know i would never sell it. OK, everyday a noob logs in and does stupid things...
nice u wasted so much time in your sig - i do not see it anyway :)

I sold 5 Sunday night for ~220K each. (I tend to sell 5 at a time.) Hopefully, the price will recover by this weekend, from all the people dumping their boxes on the market.
