You can get everything else by playing the game. Neither lockboxes nor the c-store are behind a paywall. Only vet/lifer rewards and the steamrunner.
no... but you should have specified how long it takes to get your hands on C-Store ships, or to finish a specialization, or how many times you need to complete over and over the same PvE to get some equipment, rinse and repeat it. I consider that no better than the worst of F2P models.
I need to get to him. I can't just leave him out there alone. - Sometimes you've got to makes sacrifices, Lara. You can't save everyone. - I know about sacrifices. - No, you know about loss. Sacrifice is a choice you make. Loss is a choice made for you. - I can't choose to let him die, Roth.
the point of this thread is as I see it basically "should there be more rewards for subscribing beyond 1000 days", well as far as I am aware cryptic have already stated categorically they will never add any special rewards or perks beyond the 1000 day threshold.
therefore the only thing they could add is some type of incentive that you get every month regardless of how long you have subscribed just like the 500 zen stipend that's given every month now.
the problem is to make continuing monthly good value whatever they give along with the stipend must add up value wise to the total cost of the monthly sub price.
as the cost of a monthly sub is I believe $15 and say $5 covers the cost of the zen then what ever extra they give to make it worthwhile to pay monthly must equal in value about $10.
if they follow the usual rule that they do when a new perk for subscribers is added that even past subscribers who no longer subscribe would get the new perk and bearing in mind that this new reward would be given from the very first subscription day just as the 500 zen stipend is they have got a heck of a lot of back rewards to give for anyone who has ever subscribed for any length of time from just 1 month up to and beyond the 1000 day threshold or beyond and also inclusive of lifetime subscribers calculated from the day they paid for their LTS.
as a rough guide that would equate to around $300 worth of rewards for every player who has subscribed up to 1000 days.
that's before you start to calculate players who have subbed for less then or more then 1000 days plus lifers.
if anybody thinks this is ever going to happen you have more faith then I do.
even if they say only start this new reward for subbers and lifers after they have reached 1000 days that's still going to involve back dated rewards for some players.
better IMO just to just stop subbing after 1000 days but use that money to buy zen each month instead.
as I see it there is little you currently get or will ever get that will ever make subbing monthly beyond 1000 days good value for money.
that's why paying for LTS is such good value if you can afford it, especially when its on sale.

When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Your very first sentence negates the rest of your post, as Cryptic HAS added items to the Veteran Rewards since They announced the 'supposed' final 1000 day perk.
They have added a Ship Upgrade Token, The Exclusive Starship Material, and SIX different Destroyers. (two for each faction)
Granted, They didn't add another level to obtain these perks, but They do apparently plan on continuing to make new rewards for those who qualify.

my opening statement is correct, cryptic has never released any perks that are awarded for subscribing beyond 1000 days, which is why I said - cryptic have already stated categorically they will never add any special rewards or perks beyond the 1000 day threshold.
all the rewards that have been added recently are acquired for subscribing up to 1000 days or less and are awarded to players who have subscribed up to the qualifying period even if they have stopped subscribing beyond the qualifying period.
for example the Faction-specific Environmental Suit that was added November 12, 2013 was awarded for subscribing for 500 days and given to any players who had subscribed for 500 days or more and even to players who had subscribed for 500 days and no further.
there are no veteran rewards that are awarded for subscribing beyond 1000 days.
any veteran rewards added anytime in the future will always be for subscribing for 1000 days or less depending on what milestone cryptic choose to place on them.
this is unless they choose to change their policy and I very much doubt that will ever happen.
I never said cryptic would never add any rewards which is what your post suggests.

It isn't possible to purchase Zen to the value of $5 anymore. And the Stipend still makes it worthwhile in my opinion.
A stipend worth 1/3rd of what you put into it. And if youve maxed out the 1000 day reward cycle. Youre just pouring 10 bucks down the drain. Granted, its your 10 bucks to waste. But its far from worth it.
If i were a sub the only thing I would care about is the stipend. So the choice for me is 15 dollar sub for a 500 zen stipend or pay them 15 dollars, get 1500 zen and play as an F2P. If i cared about vet ships or inventory space then yah i would probably end up having to sub, but i dont care about any of those.

+1.
Basically they don't play anything else and are missing exceptionally good games as they can't look beyond this one. It's just compassion.
