What do you guys think about bonuses to race/faction specific weapons...for example crit bonuses on phasers if fed characters use them...or dot on disruptors for Klingon characters...or even shield penetration on plasma for roms...obviously cryptic would be able to do better than my examples...but it's something worth considering. Comments...critiques???

Now speaking for the other side of the request doing this could be taken as the devs (and players that wanting this) as trying to force everyone to play as a Fed/KDF/Republic captain.
It sounds silly but I have seen people lash out against factions feeling like nothing more than an UI change.
As I've said in the space traits thread what I really want is not race or faction specific traits, but genetic resquencing for boffs so I can pick the boffs I want, not use a potato head just because he has Pirate + Efficient. Let a Trill or Vulcan be Efficient too with the proper training.
I think something like the Elite Fleet Weapons is a better way - only as Fed Fleet member, you gain access to Fleet Phasers, which have a special "fleet mod". It's a way to get Ultra-Rare Phasers that no one else has, and a mod that no one else has - but the mod is still a mod, so a Klingon or Romulan that wants Phasers, he can find them and just use a different mod.
