Defeat any Voth to start timer?

My search-fu is pretty pathetic, so please forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere (which, given the age of the issue, it almost certainly has).

What's the deal with the timer on the Dyson Ground Battlezone daily mission 'Defeat Voth in the Battlezone?' It seems to take a random number of Voth kills to start the timer (and, aggrivatingly, the Voth you kill doesn't count for your score for the mission). Is there some pattern I'm missing, or is it just bugged (or, for that matter, working as intended in some way I haven't discerned)?

    It's the first real battlezone, so it's full of bugs.

    It will never be fixed, because it's boring for Cryptic.
    Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
    Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

    he didn't answered your question. the timer will start when you get out from command centar in any of zones and kill first technicians that spawn constantly. this is your safest bet that the timer will start. for any where in the zone, mostly timer start when you kill mechs, or the voth technicians at teleporters.

    and yes, it is buged, it should be any voth any where.

    Go to the city, hang out right at the entrance till Voth spawn on 1 of the ramps that lead to the capture points. Kill 1 of them.

    I've never had a problem starting the timer doing it that way.
    Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

    i beleive it is bugged. Sometimes if i don't kill any scientists that spawn outside the command centre and go to say an artillery silo i can capture the silo and the timer will only start once i kill the Mech that lands at the final stage or if another mech is spawned killing a scientist that is guarding one of the things i need to deactivate.
    I can capture the whole zone for the one that moves along the rail and then go to a communications point and again not have the timer trigger until the 1st mech lands and its killed.
    So to start the trigger its best to either wait for a scientist outside the command centre or look for the Voth Supply runner dino, he usually activates the timer immedialtely

    I did... The scenario describes exactly what happens... Sometimes the timer starts right when you leave, other times, you can fight 3 warzones before it starts...

    Credit where it's due; apparently, the mission is badly bugged, but can generally be triggered by killing a Voth Specialist near one of the Command Center entrances, or a mech (and in my experience, mechs aren't much better for starting the timer than other Voth).
