So, I have been grinding R&D and selling the spoils on the exchange, grinding missions and selling gear. I've mustered up about 50mil EC. Not to shabby. (For a new player, started as a Delta Recruit but 4 months ago)
I've been reading a lot about builds (thanks to the vast knowledge of the community!) and came across the ever holy console that is plasmonic leech. I am a FED sci character and it seems that it's great for a sci and expensive for a FED.
100mil? Really? There are like 5 on the exchange and starts at that cost. From what I have been reading it capped once at like 65 mil and was like 30 mil not but a month ago. My question is: Is it really worth that? Should I wait for it to drop, or is that going to be the new going rate?
I think the Nagus is demanding quarterly earnings reports or something...
Cheers.

EDIT: Just to clarify, the leech has a CHANCE to drop from Tal Shiar Lock Boxes.
I am not going to drop 100mil on one. It will be on the wish list however.
Problem is with such high prices that I’m low on faith when in comes to cryptic and their habit to change game rules. The console is old and can’t be upgraded. Who knows what happens to it when they will change the skill trees of our characters as they are rumoured to do at some point. Flow caps could be simplified in a fashion that the benefit of the leech is nerfed to the ground.
Whats my advice? If 100 mil would be 1/3 of the budget you plan to invest in a new build the leech is worth considering. If not don’t bother because it’s simply to risky considering the recourses to get involved.

To be honest, even though i own 2 of such consoles, i do hope it gets nerfed into the ground. Its a crutch and makes power management kind of obsolete. There are enough traits that can help with power quite a bit now too, so maybe i'm too critical of that single console.
To the OP, just take a look at alternatives. Some traits do grant lots of power for your ship too and if you enter the 100m range, the traits of lobi ships suddenly come in range.
Let's look at the facts. The KDF Ionized Gas Sensor is an item that can still be intentionally produced in-game. The only real limit to the number of new KDF Ionized Gas Sensors being produced is the amount of raw materials currently being consumed by the process. The current exchange price of KDF Ionized Gas Sensors is lower than the aggregate cost to intentionally produce them.
Given how you folks are talking about this console box, and how much some of you have already paid for them, it seems like people would happily pay a bit more than the current price for them.
I mean, what else are eng skills for also? I find it odd that so many ships are eng heavy when so much more damage (and fun) can be had with sci and tac skills. Almost EVERY T6 ship has a commander or lt. commander eng.
I will only know when if/when I get this console of the apparent destruction it bestows upon. But being so dominant only counts in PvP imo. Does anyone else have fun being brought to the brink of death, and making it out alive? Isn't that the premise of Star Trek?
