Ferengi influence?

So, I have been grinding R&D and selling the spoils on the exchange, grinding missions and selling gear. I've mustered up about 50mil EC. Not to shabby. (For a new player, started as a Delta Recruit but 4 months ago)

I've been reading a lot about builds (thanks to the vast knowledge of the community!) and came across the ever holy console that is plasmonic leech. I am a FED sci character and it seems that it's great for a sci and expensive for a FED.

100mil? Really? There are like 5 on the exchange and starts at that cost. From what I have been reading it capped once at like 65 mil and was like 30 mil not but a month ago. My question is: Is it really worth that? Should I wait for it to drop, or is that going to be the new going rate?

I think the Nagus is demanding quarterly earnings reports or something...

Cheers.

The plasmonic leech "drops" from lockboxes that are opened by using master keys that cost 125 zen. Or you could buy them on the exchange for 3.5 to 4 million each. I haven't checked in a few days. In short, the plasmonic leech doesn't exactly drop in the game. So unless you plan on spending at least the same amount of EC on keys, there's no other way to get it. And yes it's a great console. It's not 100% required to have to play the game but it is great. And if you plan on being any good at the game, you'll need it. Sadly.

EDIT: Just to clarify, the leech has a CHANCE to drop from Tal Shiar Lock Boxes.

Yea, I saw it drops from the Tal Shiar boxes. Boxes are not a way to get what you want though. I tried them, very few, and found the same result as anyone else. Got a few bits to sell, how I got to 50mil so fast. Well that and cornering a few very small markets. Gotta start somewhere.

I am not going to drop 100mil on one. It will be on the wish list however.

I ended up paying 86m for mine a while ago, of course I was going to buy it even if it hurt, I knew it was only going to get worse and I'd be kicking myself for not getting it while I could considering my build needs, and many likely share the same view so that's why it keeps skyrocketing, it's a drying up commodity. I think it's high time to add consoles like this to the lobi store, 50 lobi cost each, that would encourage people even with limited budgets to open lockboxes for the lobi.

50 lobi? Don't get me wrong, my alts would be all for it. But how in the world should this console cost 50 lobi when all other lobi consoles (many of which suck) cost 200 lobi?

Well the justification being they aren't part of sets or were originally intended to be lobi items in the past to begin with, and it's to bring super scarce past consoles of limited quantity back into play across the board for everyone to potentially get. Maybe 100 lobi then.

This is absolutely never gonna happen.

Plasmonic Leech is, in my oppinon, the best console in game. You will find it on almost all and every high end builds. I got mine for all my 7 none kdf toons when they cost around 2-5mil. Would I pay 100 mil now? I don’t think so.

Problem is with such high prices that I’m low on faith when in comes to cryptic and their habit to change game rules. The console is old and can’t be upgraded. Who knows what happens to it when they will change the skill trees of our characters as they are rumoured to do at some point. Flow caps could be simplified in a fashion that the benefit of the leech is nerfed to the ground.

Whats my advice? If 100 mil would be 1/3 of the budget you plan to invest in a new build the leech is worth considering. If not don’t bother because it’s simply to risky considering the recourses to get involved.

To be honest, even though i own 2 of such consoles, i do hope it gets nerfed into the ground. Its a crutch and makes power management kind of obsolete. There are enough traits that can help with power quite a bit now too, so maybe i'm too critical of that single console.

To the OP, just take a look at alternatives. Some traits do grant lots of power for your ship too and if you enter the 100m range, the traits of lobi ships suddenly come in range.

    Man, so many opinions.

Let's look at the facts. The KDF Ionized Gas Sensor is an item that can still be intentionally produced in-game. The only real limit to the number of new KDF Ionized Gas Sensors being produced is the amount of raw materials currently being consumed by the process. The current exchange price of KDF Ionized Gas Sensors is lower than the aggregate cost to intentionally produce them.

Given how you folks are talking about this console box, and how much some of you have already paid for them, it seems like people would happily pay a bit more than the current price for them.

And within 24 hours the low is 220mil and high is 500mil. I just don't see one console worth the price of a good T6 ship. I have found to manage power through boff skills and a keen eye to their current levels while in battle. I have actually used the presets to my advantage. Takes a ton of click work, but I rarely see my levels dip too low. I will drill down crowds with shields a little higher. But when I get them whittled down to just a couple of ships, I drop shields drastically and use the extra power for the final kills.

I mean, what else are eng skills for also? I find it odd that so many ships are eng heavy when so much more damage (and fun) can be had with sci and tac skills. Almost EVERY T6 ship has a commander or lt. commander eng.

I will only know when if/when I get this console of the apparent destruction it bestows upon. But being so dominant only counts in PvP imo. Does anyone else have fun being brought to the brink of death, and making it out alive? Isn't that the premise of Star Trek?

I think some one would agree. "8 weeks, but you don't have 8 weeks so I'll do it for you in 2" - Mr. Scott
