Possible Krenim weapon targets

giliongilion Member Posts: 686 Arc User
Let me start by saying that this thread contains spoilers from the story line so if anyone isnt fully caught up.... why arent you? The missions are easy, you have no reason to be behind. But seriously, this thread will contain spoilers so be warned.

Now then, for over a month now we've known that the Iconian arc is going to end when the Alliance completes the Krenim Time Ship. However, we dont know what the target will be. Some people might think of the obvious: Iconia. Just stop the Iconians from ever existing. Thats the basic story from the Year of Hell ep from Voyager. However, no Iconians could change a LOT. Without even worrying about changing events during the Iconian's time, their tech and portals have had a lot of influence in Star Trek since TNG. So just simply removing the Iconians from the time line would change way too much.

So im wondering what other possible targets could there be?

Most likely is either Iconia, or New Romulus, because the plot says so.

None. I can't see how taking the shot will help us in the slightest... the only reason this weapon exists is because of that poll some time ago.

The Krenim should have been introduced during the "Delta Quadrant" Arc.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

I'm getting a better shot of the Typhoon soon for my sig, something other than a side shot. You'll just have to gaze at the adorable Norway until then.

My personal theory is that they will try it on Iconia. As a result, we will get a present in which the Tal Shair was never involved with Iconian shenannigans, but instead used more Borg stuff. This got out of hand, and Romulus was assimilated. Thus Borg everywhere. Then we will correct things, and then the Iconians will be dealt with via means of the Nexus which is supposed to be returning in 2410.

Plot twist: they target the player, thereby preventing just about everything that happened throughout the game and drastically altering the timeline such that the Iconians never gain a foothold. Meanwhile, as a side effect, the player is thrown into an alternate timeline where the current threat is the Season 11 villain and his/her alternate self was recently killed and has to take over that role. Then technobabble happens and the player is returned to the main timeline, but with the effects of his/her removal from the timeline still in effect while also possessing foreknowledge of the next big baddy.

More seriously: in truth, I'm not sure what they could target but I'm pretty sure what Sela said about them will come into play. The Iconians can't time travel due to how their minds work, so whatever gets erased will somehow have a ripple effect on the Iconians themselves

The universe has a wonderful sense of humor. The trick is learning how to take a joke.

The weapon is the worst possible idea and the only logical target is the weapon itself.

If you target iconia, all of us are gone. ALL OF US.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

They were specifically talking about shielding things from unwanted effects of things being removed from the timeline. Of course, targeting a planet has far reaching effects beyond just the Alliance ships, so while anyone with the temporal shielding would be preserved, the effects across the galaxy would be quite pronounced indeed.

I suspect that the target will be "The One" that the Iconians mentioned in the previous episode with Nog.
  • gradiigradii Member Posts: 2,824 Arc User
The target if there is a target, has to be something which didn't come into existence so long ago. something like a piece of machinery crucial to the iconians early invasion efforts.

Eliminating that allows us to gain the upper hand in the war, without destroying ourselves in the process.

Kinda shocked here how some people seem not to realize how the weapon actually works and the ramifications of that.

But weren't the Iconians saved by The One, or was it the Other, during the original bombardment of Iconia? So by removing The Other One, we can leave the Iconains to die out in the bombardment, leaving all their tech behind. We are preserved because we would still find remnants of their society, but they wouldn't have 200,000 years to plan their comeback.

Saying that, we need to find out what the Other One is before we can try that.

My prediction would be either Iconia or Hobus.

Hobus is the more interesting target.

See, they decided to make the Iconians the overarching supervillains behind everything.
The destruction of Romulus, the Undine, the Fed/Klingon war, the Vaadwuar, the spheres..

So get rid of them and... you... don't have a game. Which is great if this is how they're planning to shut down STO.

This. So much this. We'll use it and end up destroying everything except ourselves, because we have "temporal shielding". We'll find a way to undue it, Sela will come charging to the rescue with the Dominion to buy us time. And somehow, not sure how, we'll undue the preserver from getting killed and he'll save us all.

In other news, where's my T6 Vesta? :P

Where *is* the Dominion during all this? Has no one though to go talk to Odo about the whole galaxy crushing threat?
It's amazing that their first idea is "untested, inherently unstable superweapon developed by inscrutable people and methods that may compromise everything we hold dear"
