Borg STFs

Did they get a million times harder or have I just been getting grouped with people without any kind of skill or ability? It's been like beating my head against the wall.

It's been easy-peasy for me and I pug! I don't even do 10k dps and still contribute! Maybe it's just bad luck

The only one I've thought was harder was KASA.

Seems like more spheres and probes spawn later in the match, after one gate goes down. Seems like it's more critical to try and take down both gates about the same time.

It's probably because with the failures removed, more people who aren't prepared to run advanced Borg STFs are now queuing up for them. That's what I've noticed anyway (based on the parses I've done) since the advanced optionals were changed last week. Also, some people who PUG regularly and have the damage to (semi) carry PUGs may be moving back to pre-mades due to the danger of overly long Borg STFs (particularly ISA).

    Uhm no?

Played em all multiple times the past few days. Think they are the same.

The only difference I noticed was KASA. I don’t know for certain but I really think a lot of NPC hull hit points seem to have been reduced. Especially gates, regenerators, nanites making this mission faster to complete. Similar feeling on Donatra.

What does not make this mission faster to complete is the LAG of course. Cryptic outdoes itself on that map atm so good job.

KASA is a snoozefest of a match after clearing defenders. 2.5 mil HP for a Transformer and 5 mil for the Gate. Park shoot and go read a book or watch T.V whilst auto fire does the work.

Well, they opened the gates for unprepared, undergeared scrubs and thats what you get. No surprise.

I dunno, i think id rather have the mission take 30 minutes to complete than have it fail in 2 minutes then have to wait an hour to try again.

    but thats just me.

You don't wait an hour to try again, you wait 30 minutes (the standard cd for a failed or successful mission).

The choice between 30 minutes of attrition vs 30 minutes of other more productive/rewarding things to do in the game is a no brainer for me. Fail-optionals aren't coming back, but I hope they give players the chance to warp out after an objective has failed without a leaver penalty or cap the missions to a fixed timer after which it ends by itself.

If you're having trouble you should work on your ship build. Everything I've played has been a breeze. I'll be getting back into a good variety now that Risa is over to support the teams decision to end the failqueues 8 months late - - Slowly sips my I told you so coffee and enjoys the game.

No, it’s not just you but hundreds of others as well as me who think the same way.

Depending how good you get we are not even talking about 30 minutes even if you happen to have to complete the match on your own.

I must have played a dozen times each STF the past week. On almost all runs we took pugs and never missed a former fail once.

Sorry to hear about your experience OP. If you cant handle pugs well or have too many bad experiences I highly recommend installing a DPS minded build and join DPS Bronze! Runs are easier there.

Khitomer really could use an HP nerf on the gates and things. That one always takes an obnoxious amount of time and it has everything to do with the fact that the team is all split up and no force multipliers get to come into play.

ISA, though I haven't seen a problem. I'd much rather take half hour to complete it than to get nothing for a fail and have my time completely wasted, especially when it is some troll's fault, or even an accident.

Actually, when we fail Khitomer Ground Advanced we usually get an 1hr penalty not just 30 Minutes.

But for me the "problems" with the new missions are that they forgot the Khitomer Space and Ground missions completely.

Khitomer Space Adv. still fails if one Probe reaches the gate (previously if 3 reached the Gate you lost the optionals and if 10 reached the Gate the mission was lost, i fi remember correctly)
So i think they didn't change it at all.

Same for Khitomer Ground. Its still bugged because destroying the IMRs in 15 min was supposed to be optional again but its still mandatory and if you can't do it, the result is a peanlaty even though the mission is lost.
Thats not working as intended, they mixed up the objectives a long time ago and never bothered to fix it, not even now

And i noticed some weird behaviour in Khitomer Ground:

Elite Drones were running around through the tunnels after we attacked them, sometimes even backwards and sometimes they caused other Borg groups, in the other Tunnels to attack us

But i am glad that they finally changed Infected: Manus. It was one of my favourite missions before you had to rescue all those Crewmen (with hundreds of Crewmen already dead or assimilated is one more or less really that important ? Itd definitely no reason for the whole mission to fail)

Dang it, why no elite anything yet? Hive elite is too brutal for me...

Why do you need Elite outside of pre-made teams. The lack of intelligence and team play when entering pugs brings difficulty up a few levels as it is. (Sorry i'm a little annoyed after watching player stupidity multiple times tonight playing Dyson Battlezone and Crystal Entity).

I have the theory that the majority of the STO community plays Borg related PvE for fun and non Borg related PvE only for in-game income (Salvage Tech, more/faster dil, perhaps marks for the "best" gear).

An Elite mode of the Borg PvE would, for the most part, combine perfect fun with perfect income leaving the entire rest of the game un-played.

I came to approach it as beeing a guest on a concert of an old rock-star. Everybody wants him to play his old hits but he is simply annoyed at that because he totally failed to deliver excitement with the later stuff he produced.
