As it stands, for every 1% Spec XP Bonus the Alpha Fleet gets, Beta gets 0.5% and Gamma gets 0.25%. For Dil discount, Alpha is 0.25%, Beta is 0.5% and Gamma 1%.
To put it another way, every time an armada advances a level, Alphas and Gammas gain 1.25 percentage points but Betas only get 1 percentage point.
It would be fairer if the breakdown was Alpha 1.00 / 0.25, Beta 0.625 / 0.625 and Gamma 0.25 / 1.00. That way each armada level would receive the same number of percentage points.

i also think it would be helpful to betas and gammas if dil donated to lower-placed fleets in the armada paid an increasing return on credit. for example, 1:1 at alpha, 2:1 at beta, and 5:1 at gamma

Problem is by the time they realize it they can’t fix it anymore so they issue in a workaround breaking all armada bonuses in the process.
Now that’s a cool idea.

Any news on this ?
Are Betas still getting the short end of the stick ?
Our fleet is about to accept Beta membership...just wondering if there's been any word on this from devs.
First of all, you're mixing units. You wouldn't directly compare meters and kilograms, so why are you doing it with skill points and dilithium? Second, even if you ignore the units and look only at the percentages, you have to realize that an x% bonus is not the same as an x% discount. For example, a 15% skill point bonus is actually a 13% discount in the cost of acquiring skill points.
Then, there are reports that the skill point bonus doesn't work with mission rewards or doff assignments, but I assume they'll eventually fix that.
Armada: Skill Point bonus NOT working for mission rewards
Does bonus skill points actually work from armada?
The whole argument about creating armadas was that there were large fleets that were maxed, had nothing to progress with and their members couldn't earn Fleet creds or they didn't have enough provisions. At the same time there were small fleets whose progress was completely stalled, projects were too expensive and were miles behind the curve.
Let's also not forget the other key factor in the equation...they have made XP so insanely difficult to come by (nerf after nerf) and put an insane amount of levels to attain with specialisation after specialisation being added each season. Thus EVERYONE wants max XP bonuses.
So the Armada system as it currently works really doesn't fix much.
Alpha fleets get a better XP bonus so everyone wants to be in an Alpha fleet (and are actually leaving their existing smaller fleets) so this has made the smaller fleets getting left behind problem even worse.
Betas get screwed as the maths means they get less of a bonus for everything.
Gammas don't get the help from larger fleets as the UI for donating to armada projects is SO BROKEN. Yes they get a dilithium discount on the projects but there are many other inputs that are an issue (such as Fleet Marks and Doffs).
How the system should have been designed:
This would have solved all the 'problems' of the fleet system without creating new ones. Its just a shame that the Cryptic devs are too incompetent to either think of it or implement it.

Nice write up Jackal. Really nice job at illustrating how the Armada system doesn't seem to solve the issues that it set out to resolve. Shame really because the whole Armada idea has a lot of merit.
I like your "Should have been designed" list. Seems to make a lot more sense then what we are dealing with at the moment.
Anyway, maybe they will tweak it in the future, so that all divisions feel like its beneficial to them.
