New ideas for STO

Not all ideas here are new. Some are suggested by others in the past, some are by myself.

1. Playing with a crew, instead of a character with a crew. Make it so that in the Boff roster you can select the playable character. So instead of having several alts, each with its own crew, you have a crew and you can set one of it characters to be the main one, the playable one. If well done, this can work out into a truly alt-friendly game. For instance the crew get the reputation. Specialization is still for each character but the progression can be much faster. For instance you do not get one point but a set of points which can be allocated to one or several characters.

2. One person fleet. I have a fleet and I am the only member in it. I know it is not meant to work that way, but it gives you a very big grind. If you don't know what to do, you can always work on your fleet. At first, I thought it would be a mission inpossible, but at a certain point it becomes easier. With Armada's things will get even easier. What is the idea behind this? Every player wants some kind of progression, development. When this is focused on the character, we are getting into a spiral. A stronger, more progressed character needs a different environment than a less progressed one. Character development tears the player group apart. Give the player a starbase and let him develop it. I would love to have a starbase where I could see all my ships. With starbase development, the player has plenty to do and can have plenty of progression, while the combat value of the character stays at a certain level.

Next, we should have different 'skins' for our starbase. An old abandoned station for mercenaries or smugglers or an asteroid for a base for a covert team. We should have complete control of the crew of our starbase. As you form your crew for your ship as we do now, you form your crew for your starbase. We can now have subclasses, like mechanics, operatives etc.

3. Swimming, diving, crawling and climbing. The first two are excellent for the summer event, but they could be useful for exploring or for doing seal operations. Crawling and climbing are in a very rudimentary way in the game already. In Temporal ambassador, you crawl through a jeffries tube. Well, it is a cinema. I would like to have it as an animated form for movement. So we can crawl under objects and through contructions. When the tube, gangway goes up, we have to climb. We can have thrue labyrints in abandoned Borg cubes. A kind of exploring that goes well together with searching for materials and tecnology.

Just some ideas. I still like the game, but I am not really happy with the most recent developments. What we see is not really new, not different. It is old stuff with another tag, another label.

    As idea's they may not be new, which idea is new anyway, if they were implemented, playable boff, one-man/player starbase with more themes, customizations, swimming, diving etc. it would be new. Newer than a T6 B'Rel or a T6 T'Varo. But then again, you can pass on those and wait for the T7 ones.

    So not new ideas, but ideas for new stuff, right?

    Clear titles = less confusion ;)

    As to the ideas themselves, most of them are things I've always wanted, except for the one man fleet thing, a fleet is meant to be something for a group of people to work one, that's the whole point of it, making one man fleets official would make the whole thing pointless.
